On this side of the Atlantic the above named Senator is beginning to get noticed as a serious possibility for the 2008 Presidential election. What are his views on a) Gay perverts b) Abortion ?

We in England care very much who the next president is because our two countries are so close.

So far left of Hillary that you would not think it possible.

Abortion on demand at any time, at any age, at any place, for any reason. No limits whatsoever.

About the same for the "perverts".

    On Sodomites:

"a civil union that confers equivalent rights no such basic matters as hospital visitation or health insurance coverage simply because the people they love are of the same sex--nor am I willing to accept a readingof the Bible that considers an obscure line in Romans to be more defining of Christianity than the Sermon on the Mount. The heightened focus on marriage is a distraction from other, attainable measures to prevent discrimination and gays and lesbians." (Source: The Audacity of Hope, by Barack Obama, p.222-3 Oct 1, 2006)

    On Baby-Killing:

"For almost a decade, Obama has been a leader in the Illinois legislature in the battle to protect a woman's right to choose and promote equal economic rights and opportunities." (Source: Campaign website, ObamaForIllinois.com May 2, 2004)

"...This cynical ploy is designed to intimidate a group of physicians and force them to drop their lawsuit seeking to have the so-called partial birth abortion ban ruled unconstitutional.

The fact remains, with no provision to protect the health of the mother, this ban on a legitimate medical procedure is clearly unconstitutional and must be overturned." - Obama fund-raising letter written by his wife Michelle (Source: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1725788/posts)

I don't recall a lot of fretting over who the PM is.

It turns out the PM isn't "the leader of the free world". Why is it a problem for you that the question has been asked? Why not extend the courtesy of answering the question or removing yourself from participation?

Because I don't need you to think for me, thanks.

This is simply another opportunity for FundyCons to bash Democrats, and entertain someone an ocean away whose influence in the elections should be nil.

How about if Robert Hutton is pro-Obama, or anti-Bush, would you extend him the courtesy of an answer ?

The gentleman never declared that he had influence on American elections (not sure how a British citizen would). Message boards are a lot like television. If you don't like what's on, turn the channel or go to another thread. Either way, you would do your part in international relations by not being a "Rude American" poster child.

    I couldn't see why.

Besides, my opinion makes no difference to him, nor his to me. Seems the Far Right has all the bases covered here in any case.

    Pity party? :tear:

It occurs to me that you may consider yourself incapable of articulating Obama's stand on these two biblical issues. Let me encourage you. It's not all that complicated, so give it a shot.

Freedom of expression is never a good reason for rudeness of any sort, either personally or in cyberspace.

    Or other kinds of perverts?

On a serious note, he scares me... I can't pinpoint it, but he scares me more than others that believes what he believes....

I'm simply not an Obama fan. Liberal doesn't even begin to describe him. He doesn't have the experience to be president. And right now, do we really want someone with an Islamic heritage representing our country? (remember, Allah wants all of us Christians converted or dead. I have yet to see an outcrying from the majority of those who practice Islam against this type of thinking and until I do I will not be able to believe that Islam is a religion of peace.)

Yes, I realize that Obama also has a Christian heritage. How awfully the division between the two must tear at him. But, I'm afraid that Muslim society would see his election as proof that America was falling to the Islamic ideal. Not necessarily Obama's fault, but I for one don't want to give Islam any encouragement.

If the elections were today, this is why I would not be able to vote for him. There have been other presidential candidates who lacked experience, too, but they weren't running in such a critical time as 2008. Critical for a host of reasons.

There always have been and there are always going to be presidents who are in favor of gay marriage and who are not christians and who are pro-choice.

I don't like that, and those positions would make me immediately discount them as representing me personally as a christian woman, but I would much rather have a person at the helm of this country and at the helm of the world who is competent as president and has demonstrated that competency.

He/She and I could always disagree on spiritual matters, and I would not hesitate to let people know that while he/she represented me as an American citizen, that he/she did not represent me as a christian.

I pray for the leadership of our countries.

We live in troubling times, and I pray that our leaders can guide our countries through this era of terrorists attacking targets around the world to a new era of peace.

And I pray that no matter who our leaders are, that God's leaders will continue to lead people to salvation in Christ.

    God bless

    Wayne

I wish to thank you, sir, for your courteous reply, and to all the other brethren/sisters who sought to help with me with a geniune enquiry. I will ignore the rude posts of one of the brethren on this thread and I acknowledge that he is not typical of American attitudes to the Brits. May the Lord bless you all in your labour for Him and in your support for your president whoever he may be.

    Many thanks

    Bob
