    Alexa (owned by Amazon.com) computes traffic rankings by analyzing the web usage of millions of Alexa Toolbar users.

    According to Alexa, the Baptist Board is ranked #11,984.

    It is interesting to note that there are more than 27 million registered World Wide Web addresses, according to VeriSign's Global Registry Services and there are tens of millions of additional homepages hosted by free homepage hosts such as Geocities, etc.

    Teresa, Alexa is a website that ranks all other websites on the internet. Please see link posted by Clint.

    Alexa's ranking means that the Baptist Board is the 18,119th website out of the 100 million or so websites on the internet - based on Alexa toolbar users' traffic stats.

    Our ranking just rose to 16,758 this morning! PTL!!!

    As noted by the webmaster, Alexa is owned by the internet marketing giant, Amazon. They are a very sophisticated outfit and very little escapes their attention! The more Christians that have this software installed on their computers, the better. It will make them take notice and perhaps influence them to lean their concentration more onto Christian materials and merchandise!

    Well, let's put it this way...

    As of the time of this typing, we have 6,228,585 hits showing on our counter. So far this month we have 16,095 visits to the site. Our record for hits and page views in a single month both occured last month. The site gets an average of around a dozen registrations a day (my own estimate, I did not take time to count). Atheist sites account for one of the largest hit origins on our index. Some of the keywords that bring people here from 28 different search engines are "daily devotions," "encouraging bible verse," "bible reading plan," "baptists history," "christian humor," and many more unique entries.

    September 2001 we had 18,558 visits. September 2002 we had 34,832.

    There may be other cities on other hills, but we appear to be illuminating quite brightly!

    For a comparison from yesterdays post, we have this message today:
    (* It should be noted that the stats page always shows a higher number than the hit counter at the bottom of the pages here on the board. The number in my previous post is from the counter here on the board which now reads 6275415.)

    Our visitor record is at best an estimate and is defined this way:
