Been to Nashville?

I didn't know. Haven't been to NC for a while.

 

I was in Franklin(a suburb of Nashville on interstate 65 south of the big city)last Tuesday, inventorying the Walmart Super Center. Regarding one thing I can't miss about Nashville, it is the Italian restaurant at the airport. When I would travel thru BNA on Southwest, I sometimes had up to 4 hours between flights. So this one eatery was something I couldn't pass up.

 

Isn't that the one on interstate 85 at exit 49, northeast of Charlotte??? I remember seeing the sign for it in Greensboro where interstates 85 and 40 break off.

 

Not that this deals with Nashville, but I am pretty sure that Bass Pro Shop is headquartered with a HUGE store in Springfield, Missouri.

I lived in Nashville for a short while and you've got to go to the Bell Buckle Cafe in Bell Buckle, Tn, just outside Nashville.

The B-B-Que and the live music are excellent and there's a Louvin Brothers' museum across the street.

About Nashville,if you have a sweetie with you,try the Opry Land Hotel.Not to stay in,but there is so much awesome,free things to admire and you can take a free trip through the conservatory of exotic plants and waterfalls.Besides,it's right next to Opry Mills.

Oh, Saggy, now that's my old stomping grounds!

Garden Ridge (out by Hickory Hollow Mall - Mt. View Road, I believe): FIVE ACRES of candles, silk flowers, pottery, trinkets, all kinds of good stuff.

Then there's Old Time Pottery: On Gallatin Road and another one in Murfreesboro - more of the same, some cheaper prices.

Eats: If you like seafood, New Orleans Manor Buffet (pricy, tho) on Murfreesboro Road.

Cock of the Walk (on Briley Parkway) - best catfish in town and fried dill pickles, too.

Or Uncle Bud's Catfish.

Corky's BBQ.

Old Spaghetti Factory - downtown (2nd Avenue).

The riverboat brunch down the Cumberland is nice, too. (General Jackson, I believe it is)

Already mentioned: Opryland Hotel. Full of shops, dancing (musical) waters, music, and Conservatory full of imported plants, so lovely, people get married there. And the newer section even has a little river with boat rides running thru the hotel. From Thanksgiving until after Christmas, it is decorated beautifully, people come from all over the world to see it, for sure.

And of course, you gotta see the Grand Ole Opry at least once! Maybe Ricky Skaggs will be playin some bluegrass the night you go!

Think about it - an entire town built up around bar-b-que and the Louvin Brothers.

Could there be anything better?

There's an open jam I've been involved in every Thursday night and I've been playing with a pickup band just for fun.

I thought I knew bluegrass but some of these guys blow me away.

There's actually a pretty decent bluegrass scene around here and I wouldn't mind finding some guys to gig locally.

Sorry, Saggy, didn't realize you already went on your trip. Hey Mike, did you ever eat ribs at Corky's (it's down by Franklin)? Did you ever go to the annual Bluegrass Competition over in Murfreesboro every summer? It's awesome!

I think so. It's been a while and I'm having a bit of a mental block but I think that's where we went.

No, I was on kind of a hiatus from bluegrass when I lived there.

I miss Krystals. If I want tiny little hamburgers now I have to go to White Castle, which is what they feed Al Quiada members to make them confess.

Do you guys have Jack's there, or is that just an Alabama thing?
