Best prayer practices

    This past year in our ministry we focused upon developing the habit of reading the Bible. In 2012 we will focus on prayer. I was wondering if you would be willing to share with me some of your best prayer practices. By that I mean, for example: what do you do to keep 'fresh' in your prayers, how do you organize a prayer list (or do you even use one), how do you encourage your members to pray,... and so forth.

    I don't pray enough and I need all the help I can get in this area so I can help others. Thanks!

    Many years ago, I practiced silence in prayer. It is not easy to stand in one spot and keep worldy thoughts from one's mind, but after a few years, it worked for me.

    I keep a list of people's wants and needs and offer these each morning as part of my worship prayer. I read the lists out loud.

    During church services, I often suggested things for the people to offer their silent prayers. For example: I would say to them; let us pray for Brother or sister; pray for growth; prayer for each other........I would conclude this time with a two or three sentence prayer of praise unto God.

    The best prayer practice is to practice it as often as possible.
