Bad movements within the church. They list Promise Keepers and I'm not sure about them - I've heard good and bad, but the others are definitely a problem.

I'm posting this because the Christian community seems largely unaware of the Latter Rain, Dominion, and Kansas City Prophet movements, which also overlap with the New Apostolic Reformation.

Hmm - I've never heard of the Latter Rain, Dominion or Kansas City Prophet movements. I'll have to do some research on them.

Unfortunately, I know of these movements because my sister in law and her "pastor" husband are into this stuff. They started their own church about a year ago. She believes Kim Clement is a prophet. :BangHead:

Could save a lot of space if people stopped reposting people's entire posts again and again and again,,,,,,,did I say, again?

Cheers,

Please do! I've been following them for awhile due to different things coming up connected them that I saw getting in my church and in others' churches. I have 3 friends who finally had to leave their churches because of teachings coming from these areas.

Oh, dear, this is too bad. I hear about stuff like this from people I know, too (they have relatives getting influenced by these people/movements).

The thing about the Latter Rain/Kansas City Prophets/NAR is that their ideas and teachings can get into churches without the church being aware of it. It's not like an announcement is made or anything. And because people do not know about these movements and teachings, it gets in the door. This is what happened in 3 churches I know of where my friends and their husbands were.

At that Toronto Airport Church they een have people on floor barking like dogs as part of their worship. It was reported in our national newspaper.

And that's not all of them, just the most well-known leaders or teachers.

Cindy Jacobs is a "prophet." The NAR has schools for prophets and apostles. They believe in new revelation over the Bible. Some of their leaders have called the Bible a "dusty book." Some have said the NT test for prophecy is not the same as the OT test - it does not have to be 100% correct. I am not making this up.

Here is something on one of the NAR leaders, Dutch Sheets:
http://signofjonah.wordpress.com/2007/03/14/the-impotent-god-of-dutch-sheets/

They have really strange teachings about prayer. They believe that God can't do anything unless you pray - prayer releases God to do stuff. It's somewhat similar to Word Faith yet different. They have a low view of God and high view of themselves.

Here is an article on one part of the NAR teachings:

Actually, on a more serious note, heretick burning is not permitted under the regulative principle. But false-prophet-stoning IS! So, to revise my earlier statement: This is what we get when we don't obey the Bible and STONE false prophets.

I see your point, but I take it you are joshing since we don't follow those OT laws about stoning. :wavey:

Btw, heretic is spelled heretic. No "k."

Joshing? Keep in mind I am Covenental, meaning I stress continuity between OT and NT.

btw since I am the Most Right Reverend Pastor and Bishop of the Most Exalted Assembly, you may not correct my spelling in public.

Hopefully you have detected my sarcastic humor by now.

wow, really, how do we know if this is happening in our own churches. I mean, we don't attend every class, and right now we don't have a pastor, our interim is a theology prefessor though. Not to mention, I am not entirely sure soem of this, or something similar was starting in our old church, we knew something was wrong, something was happening, weren't exactly sure what.

There's a name for this. It's called "barking in the Spirit."

Along the same lines as "laughing in the Spirit."
