Has anyone ever heard of the Bible Code, if so how do you feel about it?

An effort of Satan himself to get folks attention away from what the Bible really has to say...

I don't know exactly what you are talking about but I think I recall some thing about the Torah and the lines of scriptures being arranged in different orders then one would read the text of scripure in some pattern mainly in foretelling future events. Is this off base? I guess I am somewhat curious aboutit.

It's been discredited. People can find codes in any book if there are enough pages. People found hidden messages in Moby Dick, War and Peace, and other books, using the same methods used for the Bible code. The guy who first started this is not even a Christian.

God does not hide his messages to us. Jesus did not teach anything in secret (Jn. 18:20). Hiding messages and meanings is a trademark of the occult.

Math has never been a matter of "feeling" for me.

It usually gets down to "peer review" and theorems that hold up or don't.

This nice thing about Math is that it is a "hard science".

Feelings run rampant in typical religious discussions but are out of place when it comes to math.

Imagine the Catholic Church asking the general public "how they felt" about the earth being round. Once you can measure the curve of the earth mathematically - the "feelings that you have" about that finding really don't change the facts to any extent.

It appeals to the gullible who would rather believe there is some mysterious coded message in the scriptures, than actually read and discern the text God gave us.

It sells books and software. It is SILLY!!!

The Bible Code is fascinating in my opinion.

It is interesting that major events that have taken place can be found in the Bible Code.

However, no one has been able to predict future events from the Bible Code. I believe that no will be able to, because we are not meant to know about the future.

Ezekiel 21:21 (HCSB: The Holman Christian Standard Bible):
For the king of Babylon stands at the split in the road,
at the fork of the two roads, to practice divination:
he shakes the arrows, consults the idols, and observes the liver.

That verse describes some ancient forms of
divination practiced by the king of Babylon.
Bible Codes are a modern divination practice
made possible only since the invention of
    the computer.

IMHO the Bible codes are 'divination', a practice condemned
by the Old Testament of the Bible.

    Deuteronomy 18:10 (HCSB):
No one among you is to make his son or daughter pass
through the fire, practice divination, tell fortunes,
    interpret omens, practice sorcery,

    div·i·na·tion n.
The art or act of foretelling future events or revealing occult
knowledge by means of augury or an alleged supernatural agency.

Yep, using the Bible code to foretell future events is 'divination'.
Yep, using the Bible code to reveal occult (hidden) knowledge
is 'divination'. Divination is a sin.

Studying the Bible for the clear message is Good!

So since you never answered the question outright, is that your way of saying you believe the Bible codes are real?

Are there codes hidden in the Bible?

    Peace,

    Tam

Ok, calm down Ed Edwards. Once you understand how the Bible Code works, it is impossible to predict anything with it, only confirm past events. Its has been proven by top mathematicians that it is impossible to reproduce the code. You can randomly use the code in other books with poor results. The Bible Code was discovered by Jewish mathematicians. All I can see is that it proves the Jewish scribes didnt make any mistakes copying the Old Testament. This might be physical proof used to convince unbelievers that the Bible truly is the word of God.

I wonder about "the words that are closed up and sealed until the time of the end" written in Daniel.

Why is our faith in the bible so fragile that we need to rely on "proofs" from dubious sources who don't even believe that God inspired the bible?

Simple, it exists in the same way and for the same reasons as do alien abductions, bigfoot and pyramid power.

All you have to do is come up with something that most people can't readily refute and/or they have a fascination to believe. ;)
