    Thank you, first 10 voters.

BTW, answer number one is a trick question.
If you are a Baptist you are supposed
to believe in an inerrant Bible.
In fact, the whole poll is designed to
show the varity of meanings that Baptists
put on the concept of "an inerrant Bible".
    This forum "Bible Versions/Translations"
is in a area called "Baptist DEBATE
    forums (Baptist Only). Only Baptists
are supposed to be posting there.
Oops, we have already found at least
    one non-Baptist (or perchance a non-Baptist
Baptist, it is hard to tell) [IMG]

Interesting poll. I was going to say the bible is inerrant as interpreted by me, but then I realized that would be an error . . .

Ed, unfortunately your either-or poll has overlapping categories. For example, "The Bible is inerrant on all matters of doctrine, history, and science" (or however you worded it) is perfectly compatible with "The Bible is inerrant in the original autographs" (ditto). Also, "The Bible is inerrant on all doctrinal issues" is fully true, but its position in the list might lead one to beleive that by voting for it, he was sympathetic with a moderate denial of inerrancy.

    I thought i clarified
that when i said in the instuctions:
"Please choose the highest number with which
    you fully agree."

I thought by wording it this way:

1 The Bible is inerrant on all doctrinal issues
2 The Bible is inerrant on all issues: doctrinal, historic, and scientific

    That it implies:
    1. The Bible is inerrant on all doctrinal
    issues ONLY

    or

    1. The Bible is inerrant on all doctrinal
issues BUT NOT historic, and scientific issues

It is my personal belief that there is
a difference between the two possions and
    that BOTH are legitimately INERRANT.
And yes, there are some who believe one
    or the other.

    Thank you first 23 voters.
Good turnout this holiday week-end past.

I wish we could have Chicago rules [IMG]
vote early, vote often. But alas,
we each only get to vote once per person.

The overlapping of the categories makes the poll about as meaningful as a Swahili translation of the Bible would be to an Eskimo infant. :D [IMG] [IMG]

    Thank you, 31 posters.

    Craigbythesea, i've already heard your
objections from elsewhere. This poll is
    labeled #2, it isn't exactly like #1.
In six months there will be a #3. Constructive
criticism would be to mention how the
categories overlap and how that makes the
poll less valid. If you just want to
blow steam, that is alright also.

Ed, I disagree with Craig, IMO this poll is quite revealing, especially the number of folks choosing # 3.

Wow, a dozen new voters [IMG] :D [IMG] [IMG]

And here is the new score:

Poll Results: Bible Inerrancy Poll #2 (35 votes.)

2 The Bible is inerrant on all issues: doctrinal, historic, and scientific 17% (6)
3 The Bible is inerrant in the original autographs 43% (15)
4 The Bible is inerrant only in the KJV1611 Authorized Version 6% (2)

    Oops, i put this on
    another topic:

Yes, Bro. HankD, it is interesting how half the
    folks here vote for:

    "3 The Bible is inerrant
in the original autographs 43% (15)"

    I see two problems.

    1. We don't have the original autographs. I want
to have the inerrant Bilbe IN MY HAND.
(And I do, which ever faithful translation
    I have in my hand).
So I voted my convictions which is:
"6 The Bible is inerrant in all faithful English translations 9% (3)"

    2. Just kidding' about 2 probvlmes
did you know the KJV New TEestament
    soruces disagree with each other?
37 variants are documented in the New Testament
by the original King James Version translators.
This document is found in faithful renditions
of the King James Version like the KJV1611 Edition
and the KJV1873 edition. Even some "don't mention that there
are various versions of the KJV" are still honest about
    the translator sidenotes (footnotes).

I might have voted this one Bro Ed. but I personally need qualifications abround the word "faithful".

It is so very subjective to me that I had to play it safe with # 3.
