Who is your Biblical hero? (other than one of the Trinity)

    Mine would be Jesus!

On the strictly human side, it'd be Jeremiah.

Without a doubt it is Job.

    Cheers,

You mean other than Jesus, who did the most humble and heroic thing imaginable in leaving heaven to submit Himself to God's will and to death on the cross to save of bunch of sinful losers like all of us?

Well no one really can even come close to that, but in terms of the heroism of mere mortals, it's hard for me to choose.

I would have to select Paul, for one. God has told Ananias that Paul would suffer greatly for His Name. (Acts 9:15) And Paul found that out with regularity. Most people would have quit and backed out. Paul did not.

I don't think that heroism or bravery is a lack of fear or being like Hercules. I think that heroism is doing the RIGHT thing when you are defenseless, helpless, and scared slam to death.

I also like the young Jewish girl who was kidnapped and made a slave of Naaman's wife. I can't imagine being kidnapped as a child. I would be crying for my mother everyday. And I CERTAINLY wouldn't be having any sympathy for my kidnappers. But she took her eyes off of her situation and looked in compassion at Naaman. We don't even know her name. That's the heart of a hero. Doing the right thing regardless of the dire circumstances.

I have always loved Martha, she seems to have similarities to me...a good hearted woman possibly not an intellectual giant, but able to look after the physical needs of her family and the followers of Jesus. Also for the fact she loses sight of what really is important when she complains that she seems to be doing all the work while others sit around listening to the men. I imagine that after being gently corrected by Jesus she saw to it that she did not fret about things in the future.

Another hero would be the lad with the five barley loaves and the two small fishes.

He didn't have much, but he gave it all to Jesus. Jesus took what little the lad had and performed the only miracle that's found in all four gospel accounts.

I think there's a message for all of us here in that.
