When the famous film came out from California several years ago I became a quick believer in Bigfoot, but heard that someone admitted only a few months (?) ago that he had been the one who put on a suit, that the whole thing was a fraud. Since then, I'm rather skeptical of all Bigfoot claims. Here is one article about it.

Don't know about other parts of the country, but...around here (Central Texas), we know who Bigfoot is, or should I say was: a 6'10", 400 lb Baptist preacher friend of mine, who used to dress-up in hairy suit and make-up late fall and early winter and scare youth campout groups. Everyone had a good time with it and it gave the newbies something to look forward to. Sad to say, he passed away and nobody can literally fill his shoes.

I voted number one, don't beleive, and thers never been any actual evidence, but of course it could be spiritual, as in satan fooling people to beleive his lies(like aliens from other planets, not a discussion starter either).

In the (New) Jersey pinelands they call it the Jersey Devil.

NO DOUBT about it it's a hoax! With the east coast being as crowded as it is if it was real more evidence surely would have been found.

Although I have a neighbor who looks like....... nuff said!

I think Bigfoot is a North American ape-like creature. But unless one is finally caught there will be no way to know for sure one way or the other.

    "Bigfoot--what is it?"

It's what happens to your foot after you drop a brick on it.

Back in the early 70's in the piney hills of Northwest LooZana, one balmy Spring evening, my family of 8 heard something across the dirt road tearing thru' the woods, breaking limbs. The dog wouldn't even go out & there was a peculiar smell.

The next day, a neighbour up the road told us he'd fired at something big that had stepped upon his porch. It left a tuft of dark coarse hair behind. Maybe it was a bear...maybe not.

Maybe it was Blackbird. Sounds like something
he would do on any given Saturday night.

Bigfoot's a hoax the guy that started it lived in Yakima Washington.

Bob Heironimus, a retired Pepsi bottler from Yakima, Wash., says that he is the one in the gorilla costume in the famous Patterson film. Long claims the gorilla costume was made by a guy in North Carolina whose name is (I'm not making this up) Philip Morris. Roger Patterson allegedly bought the suit for $435. Patterson died in 1972 but his associate Bob Gimlin's lawyer Tom Malone told Leiby that "I'm authorized to tell you that nobody wore a gorilla suit or monkey suit and that Mr. Gimlin's position is that it's absolutely false and untrue."

Thanks everyone for voting! I really am not sure what it is. I am reading a very interesting book on the subject entitled Bigfoot! by Loren Coleman. However, I am just about halfway into the book. This is the first time that I have read on the subject. I have found that people at work all have an opinion on the subject, but then I work for a very small firm.

To the 27% who say it is "other," what are some ideas about this other?

Alcott, how much I enjoy reading your posts! I see you are from the Southwest. I lived 7 years in El Paso over 40 years ago. The dryness was too much for me, but I like the Southwest. I haven't been there again for over 30 years.

The author of the book that I am reading gave his website 150 pages into the book. It is www.lorencoleman.com

I was able to borrow the book from the downtown library.

    I wondered that myself.
    If it isn't
    a myth (includes faked exsistance)
    physical or biological entity
    spiritual entity

    Then what else is there?

29% , which is 10 people have now voted 'other'.
What in your opinion is 'other'?
