Well here is a brand new story about a possible bomb in the port of Miami. The driver is of middle eastern disent, and had two men hiding in the back of the truck.

Am I bigoted for guessing that this person(s) background will have Muslim philosophy woven into it?

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,242265,00.html

All of us accused bigots could be wrong, these could be just as easily be Christians, Jews, Agnostics...anything else right?

Well lets just see how this plays out, I am sure it is nothing and these boys were on their way to choir practice at the local baptist church and we just need to relax and be tolerate of everyone!

I think we need to wait and see. It could just be illegal immigrants trying to smuggle themselves into this country or it could be worse. We just have to wait and see.

I should clarify that this thread is based on all the previous threads regarding Muslim congressman, Muslim discrimination and Muslim profiling. I did not just pick this out of the blue to be accusatory. Just possibly making a point.

And were the cops right in further questioning this person because of his Middle Eastern descent?

From one accused bigot to another, yes. If blue-haired old ladies had flown planes into buildings and killed Americans, I would say "yes" then, too, in the same circumstances.

Lets suppose I’m in a market and two individuals come in wearing ski masks with guns sticking out of their jeans. They could:

    • Be Robbing the Place
    • Be undercover officers just back from a ski vacation
    • Are very cold and have a carry permit in their wallets
    • None of the above

Bigoted me will go with A, and apologize if wrong.

That's the problem, no one in their right mind has a problem with the questioning of suspicious people. Clearly there was something to merit questioning in this case. Hoever, being of Arabic descent, or practicing Islam, does not automatically merit extra scrutinty. This is just as ridiculous as folowing black people around stores to prevent shoplifting, just because they are black. Focussing all your energy on one group of people leaves room for others to get away with the very things you are trying to prevent.

Well, that depends on what you mean by that. These American residents were born in countries with majority Muslim population, so you're not a bigot for supposing they are likely to be Muslim, whether superficially or devoutly.

However, since the story's first word is "Miscommunication" and as the cargo turned out to match the manifest and as the men were not arrested or charged and it seems that there is no bomb - I'm puzzled as to why you'd bring these men's philosophy into it.

Because America is on edge because we are in a war of underlying religious philosophies. No one wants to admit it, but it nonetheless that is exactly what is what is happening. Muslims want us dead because we stand for Freedom, and a Judeo-Christian philosophy. They would like both those parts extinguished from the face of this planet. Thinking this war has nothing to do with philosophies, worldviews, and faith is paramount to sticking ones head in the sand.

It would be accurate to state that some Muslims want us dead.

According to conservative estimates, approximately 1.2 million.

I think that a conservative estimate would be more in line with between 20 and 40 million. At least 60 million supported the celebtations after September 11th.

Whether they be 1.2 or 20-40 million is beside the point. Let's take the ultra conservative estimate and say it is 1.2 mil. OK?
and let's be even MORE conservative and say that only 10% of them are here in the US. That equals an underground ARMY of 120 thousand insane fanatics who want nothing more than to kill as many of us as they can while blowing themselves up to gain Paradise.

Nothing to be concerned about? We were much wiser in WWII. We locked up all Americans of Japanese descent back then. Didn't have much of a terrorist problem did we?

THEY WHO DO NOT LEARN FROM HISTORY ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT.
THE ONLY THING MEN LEARN FROM HISTORY IS THAT MEN DO NOT LEARN FROM HISTORY.

    Learn something people!!!!!!

Yup, learn that with this line of thinking one day a self pro-claimed Evangelical Christian is going to commit an act of terror and all of us are going to be rounded up, locked away, and our civil liberties taken away.

Roger, the same argument could have been made back in WW2, but it didn't turn out that way, did it? Agreed, AV1611.

    Different day in WWII.

Mark my words, if we build internment camps we will reside there one day.

Yeah, during WWII we would not have elected a Japanese national to our congress either, even if it was legal! Different day is right, people had some sense of discernment and interest in our national survival. Now from within our own borders we have not only let our guard down, but in the name of tolerance have allowed those who are our sworn enemies in leadership positions.

No longer will the wars be raged from outside of our borders but within our own system. We have already turned away from our foundations even within our judicial system and said that our system has nothing to do with the Ten Commandments and tore them from the walls of justice. Once again in the name of tolerance we did this. Now we have openly, willingly, happily taken those into our military and political leadership positions whose beliefs are sympathetic to the enemy.

We are too far gone for internment camps, and I fear we have already lit the fuse of self-destruction. Now it is only a matter of how long this fuse will last and when those who lit it will say, "we didn't know"? Our arrogance at what we can do will ultimately be the cause of our demise as a nation.
