One more extremely wordy piece of legislation designed to appease someone’s emotions.

Imagine you’re having a quiet reasonable debate with someone and over the course of the discussion they become frustrated due to the fact they cannot win the debate. They’re emotionally upset because they’ve been proven wrong. You’ve humiliated them. You’ve hurt them.
You intentionally set your mind to humiliate and hurt them because you hate them and what they believe. You’re hateful!

To what level do they charge you?

Here in the US , The Equality Act will be amended
And edited to do much the same. The end goal is to silence the Church, conservatism and anyone who disagrees with the progressive agenda.

Bottom line is disagreement is not hate.
Opinions are like feet , they all stink unless you’re the ruling class making the rules.

Each listening ear may “hear” something different.
Some will intentionally and say they hear something that in fact isn’t there.

This legislation includes, "Abolishing the common law offence of blasphemy removes outdated law that is no longer considered necessary or appropriate." So, yes, "hate speech" toward God and religion is just fine, but saying any kind of sexual act is a sin is not.

An interesting part of this legislation, if passed as it stands, would be that ultimately it will encourage children to turn in their parents for what they say around the dinner table. The children will get a good dose of progressivism at school, then come to believe their parents are hateful troglodytes holding ideas that went out of style before the ice age.

The bill in Scotland? I hope you are right. I suspect some modified form of it will, though. Start out with an extreme version, then work it down to something most will agree to.

A law like that has been very successful in Cuba. Why just the other day a felon was arrested for attempting to trade part of a bottle of shampoo for some coffee.

Never say never in the world of politics.
Why only a few years ago people were saying they’d never allow homosexual marriages in the United States. Before that they’d never allow boys to wrestle girls or boys to compete against girls in track and field.
They’d certainly never allow grown men in girls restrooms!
Humm?

This was a fundamental tenet of Soviet Socialism. While Granddaddy Lenin was their Messiah figure, the favorite grandson would have been Pavlik Morozov who informed on his own father.

Pavil Trofimovich Morozov

The son of poor peasants, Morozov was the leader of the Young Pioneers’ group at his village school and was a fanatical supporter of the Soviet government’s collectivization drive in the countryside. In 1930, at age 12, he gained notoriety for denouncing his father, the head of the local soviet, to the Soviet authorities.

But then too many never imagined that the distinction between men and women could become so blurred, so fluid that they could claim plausible deniability.

Just because total depravity doesn't mean one has fully achieved it doesn't mean one can't try. In fact, there seems to be a competition.
