Birth Control

I just wanted too get your guys view on Birth control....We have 3 boy's 6,4 and 2 Month's....My Husbund wants more baby's...But Im not too sure about this, I have prayed about it but not sure if I am getting the right answer or the answer I want too hear :BangHead:

Right now, you are in the throws of babyhood and it's tough. You have three young children and the thought of more right now is daunting but don't give up. You don't need to decide now that you don't want more or that you DO want more. If you wish to hold off having more children for a time, speak to your husband and speak to your doctor and come up with a solution you're comfortable with.

I'd recommend you apply for the women's private forum because then we can talk more about specifics but here in the open forum, that's my best advice.

I hear they are cheaper by dozen. I figure at one a year you could be there by the age of 37. Nah, just kidding, keep praying about it. I will say that I if I had my life together sooner I would have liked to have more. My last was at 35 and afterward my wife had her tubes tied. I wasn't ready to make that action which was a permanent solution and we probably would have had one or two more had we not went that route.

No problem with it, provided it isn't BC pills or any type that has the potential to cause death after fertilization or a higher instance of miscarriage/defects after discontinuing.
Permanent stuff? Not a good idea at childbearing age. Did it and am sorry, not because I wanted more kids, but because I closed off that option without thinking of what the future could hold. Spouses leave or die, even if the current spouse has no desire for children, he/she could change later or if they are somehow out of the picture later, another spouse might want that option.

IE pretty much nothing apart from a type of barrier or natural timing coupled with "PLEASE let my timing chart be correct!" :laugh:

PS: Didn't know a thing about the dangers of BC and wasn't a Christian when I was married. I got pregnant on BC pills, then on Depo, by the third one it happened so fast that I had my post-natal and pre-natal in the same appt. My doctor called me his miracle patient. (among other things) At that rate of fertility, half of America would be populated and filled with my DNA.

That thar is enough reason for anyone to believe in birth control. :tongue3:

I gotta ask a question: Are you questioning the use the bc because someone has told you something to the effect of "You must not be trusting God with every part of your life if you aren't trusting him with your fertility?" Is someone telling your husband this?

If so, you aren't going to settle the question by deciding whether or not birth control is sinful. Birth control often becomes a strawman in discussions about letting God decide family size, because if you can prove birth control is "wrong" or sinful then that leads to the conclusion that Christians must let God control their family size.

But there are two sides to the "family size" discussion. If it is wrong to use birth control to slow down or stop having more children (for a season or for good) then we MUST also discuss whether or not it is equally wrong to treat infertility problems, because after all, God has obviously designed some women so they are unable to successfully bear children. If we are truly trusting God with our family size then we must accept zero children as readily as we accept 19. And folks on the "trusting God with our family size" often won't discuss that side of things.

So lets be clear here about what we are discussing.

Tell him to take a walk to the Drug Store next time he wants to play around. Make him responsible. Those pills are not good for you. If he loved you he would.

That is the method that I taught our youth group! Works really well.

There is no harm in abstaining from activities that produce children during that time when it is easiest to become pregnant. There is great harm in using abortifacients as birth control because a life is taken.

Let's think about the whole baby killing idea. Do you have any idea at all how many fertilized eggs fail to implant even when a woman is NOT on birth control? Its a lot. Google this question, you'll be surprised at what you find. If God lets it happen in nature then its not wrong for us to allow the possibility (very slim possibility, because bc works by preventing ovulation in the first place) of it happening while we are on birth control.

So killing babies isn't the issue for BC PILLS.

Now, IUD's and similar things are aborificant methods, meaning they'll cause a miscarriage if an embryo should implant. THAT is baby killing. I don't suggest a Christian use such a method.

Rings (nuva rings and the like) are hormonal based again, similar to the pill. So are patches and shots.

Which one is right for you? Depends on your body and what you can tolerate. I eventually had to go with an irreversible tubal ligation because I could no longer tolerate the pills (no shots or patches back then, I'm old), but by the time I went permanent I was 35 and other circumstances precluded the idea of my birthing a fourth child.

Which brings me to the next point. If God wants you to have more children than what you have, you will have them if you are open to His call when it comes. My fourth child started out being my son's best friend in preschool and now he lives with us more than half the time. (his biofamily has issues) And he's not the only "extra" we've had through the years. Children seem to collect around our house.

Don't ever think God can't or won't see to it that you have exactly what He wants you to have to make you into the Christian He wants you to be. Follow the Spirit's leading, the direct command of scripture (which is silent on birth control) and listen to your husband he has a vested interest in this issue.

The time of two when we tried using the pill, my wife became a raving lunatic. It always started out slowly, difficult to see the change, but over months of time, the change became palpable. She was "agravated" (there is a more secular word that is more appropriate) almost constantly and though all the womanly functions were all nice and controlled, the rest of the time was not worth the price paid in the family. She also lost almost all interest in being with her husband.

It is often said, "Ain't mama happy, ain't nobody happy," but that goes both ways, if daddy ain't happy, then he ain't gonna work to keep mama happy either...

I wonder how many homes have been destroyed by the cumulative effects of hormonal control in otherwise awesome wives? :BangHead:

Gather up all the information on what they are capable of doing and how they may affect you physically and mentally, then ask him to read them before he decides to have you on them. Make sure to print the small print! Gotta love those commercials that make BC sound so great and wonderful and then they either rush at the end or tiny words run through super fast talking about the possibility of your eyeballs exploding or cloven hoofs growing out your nostrils but hey, call your doctor TODAY for a free trial!

A lot of men think "it's just a pill." Sounds great, woman pops a pill and presto, no prego. It's so much more than just a benign little harmless pill. It's a drug going into your system when there's nothing wrong with that system. That never is a good idea to do to a healthy body.

Absolutely read the fine print on any and all methods. All of them can have side effects that are undesirable. like, you can be nastily allergic to the spermicide on c*ndoms (so typed so google doesn't run any off color adverts) or to the latex some are made from.

Pills can cause what GL and Gina described (lol on the horns out the nose!) but they can also cause constant nausea and stomach upset (which is what they did to me) and a host of other things.

Birth control is something to consider very carefully.

I just wanted to add this is theory6 and not fact concerning bc pills. Many pro life dr.'s disagree the pill can cause an abortion as it has never been proven, it has always been the "logical conclusion" and is touted as fact by many believers (including my pastor and dr. Randy Alcorn) but is still just theory.
