No I don't. We just need to remember that our God is full control of this. I honestly think that our country is getting what it wants and deserves.

Pastors would be wise to preach from Psalm 2 next Sunday


Why do the nations conspire,
and the peoples plot in vain?

The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and his anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds asunder,
and cast their cords from us.”

He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord has them in derision.

God is in control but it doesn't mean everything is going to be wonderful and beautiful, look at leaders like Hitler,Ceauşescu, Stallin(and many others). Nothing godly or God believeing about them. Some chirsitans act as if nothing bad can ever happen because they are christians. The bible shows us this isn't true, history shows us this isn't true. Both show us exactly the opposite.

Donna, I think bad things are going to happen. What concerns me most is this "Freedom of Choice Act" he has promised to sign. The thought of that just nauseates me. Even with those ungodly leaders that you mentioned, God put them in power for a reason. He had a divine purpose. I believe God has a divine purpose for putting Barak into the role he will soon be in. That purpose I sadly believe is judgement. As Christians, we need to respond in several different ways. Sorrow is one of those responses. Repentance would also be appropriate. However, we also should rejoice because we know that God is working out His purposes, and because we are His children, we can be assured that His purposes will be what is best for us. He WILL glorify himself through this. I will say this very cautiously...there is a small amount of excitement in me because of this. I'm not excited about who is elected president at all, but I think that this event may bring great suffering and persecution to the church. The good side of that is that suffering usually brings revival. So, I will be praying that God will be using these circumstances to glorify Himself by waking the church up to realize it's absolute dependence on Him.

Donna, right. Great point. Instead of just resting in God's comfort, we all need to be praying intensely. For some reason, liberal domestic/educational policies breed atheism and create an atmosphere where religion cannot prosper. That's the true seculurization theory. (Germany, france, etc)

We may see a new generation of areligious youth, which will be the end of Christianity in the US as we know it. We need to pray hard. Though Dale, I am still thankful for the post. It's an important reminder.

My thoughts are that we've already been reaping for some time now. Just the options we had to vote for made that clear to me. I think that the judgement may intensify a little more now. Let us as believers, be the first to repent.

This concerns me also, and 2 days ago I was challeneged that he didn't say that.

This is what concerns me, those youth will be my grandchildren. But when you talk about concern for children on this board you get mocked.

Historically speaking, the Christian Faith has always seemed to thrive under hardship and persecution. If that is what the Lord sets before us in the days ahead, so be it. However, it may be good to look back at the beginning of the Clinton years... I think the faith survived his influence and it will survive the Obama years.

I led my church to pray for Obama last night as we are called to do in the Scriptures. I pary ALL believers will have the integrity to do the same over the next 4 years.

Right. "the secret things belongs to God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and our children.." found somewhere around Dty 29 or 30. The fact that God sets up an unrighteous ruler for his own purposes doesn't mean we don't oppose that unrighteous ruler.
