I'd like to know the formula for coming up with the Body Mass Index. I tried asking an Army recruiter & he couldn't tell me. All he could do was punch my height, weight, & girth into his laptop computer.

My height at 6"0 & my current weight at 377 LBS brings my BMI to 51.1%. That tells me right there that I have got to get off my lazy behind & start doing things & eating less. I think I am going to create a chart so I can keep track of this. The fact that I have more body fat than not is a major wake up call.

I need to lose 5 lbs. to be in the "normal" range. I can certainly stand to lose the weight too. Now that summer is here, I'll be much more active and lose the weight more easily. Ideally, I'd love to lose 10. :)

According to this BMI calculator, my weight range should be between 137 to 183. In my thinking, at 6"0, anything below 170 would make me look like a tooth pick. I'd be happy if I could get my weight between 190 & 220 LBS. 220 is what I weighed when I graduated high school 13 years ago. I'd probably have a killer physique at 175 LBS. To get to that point, I will have to lose over 200 LBS. The most weight I have lost in a single effort was 55 LBS.

I'm going to put forth a serious effort & try to shed some weight. I'm going to start my 2-mile walk routine again. I did this at the start of the year & had moderate results. I'm also planning to cut back my portions slowly. If I cut back suddenly, it won't work.

As much as its going to kill me, I'm also going to start drinking more water before, during, & after every meal. I like having something with flavor to it. I have gotten away from sodas & have moved to Powerade or Gatorade. Even then, those drinks have sugar. Since water doesn't have any sugar, it shouldn't cause me any problems.

Crystal Light works good for this. Lots of flavors and no calories. The walmart brand ain't too bad, either. Both will help you get the water you need. I know my wife couldn't make it without them. :D

The singles packs are perfect with bottled water. We used battled water (no, I don't want to hear about plastic bottles) because the "city water" isn't that great and we don't have a well. If we did have a well the lime in the water around here would be giving us killer kidney stones later on.

I am normal! Woo hoo! But only by 5/10 so I don't dare gain anything! I knew I needed to lose a few pounds anyway. I have put on about five or six pounds in the last few months.

I drink water with a couple squirts of lemon juice or lime juice, occasionally club soda with a bit of lime for a treat, and a lot of hot water either plain, with lemon, or with cinnamon and stevia.

My tap water has a metallic taste to it, but when you mix it with Crystal Light it doesn't have one. I went ahead & forced myself to buy bottled water & have been drinking it like crazy.

I may have slightly hyper extended my left knee & its been sore for the past few days. I haven't been going for any walks with it doing that. I was on a ladder trying to reenforce one of my windows & had my knees locked into position so I wouldn't fall. I must have been on the ladder for at least 30 minutes. My knee was pressed tightly against one of the ladder rungs & was very sore afterwards. Going up & down stairs can be somewhat painful. Even getting into my car is painful because I have to put all of my weight on my left knee (with it bent) to slide into the driver's seat. When walking, my knee is somewhat wobbly. I have been able to stand on my left leg when it is straight with very little trouble.

It seems to have gotten better. Its not as painful to go up & down stairs or to get into my car. If all goes well, my knee should be in good shape again by the end of the week. I'll be back to my 2-mile walks again. I have been doing some shadow boxing as sort of a substitute exercise. I'll do about 50 reps per punch in various sets. My arms are definitely sore, but not majorly.

Dieting is a different story. I have made some changes & substitutions in what I eat, but still haven't cut back. I have been struggling with this. Once my knee is back to 100%, I'll be able to execise more than I have.
