Bolton to end tenure at UN

That's too bad.

He's been doing a great job.

 

Actually, the first consession was Rumsfeld resigning. That was a no-brainer.

This, on the other hand, is a mistake. Bolton has been very effective and the only problem I can see is that Bush appointed him.

 

Maybe it's the way President Bush "appointed" him?

 

Very effective? He's accomplished absolutely nothing. He wasn't even fully supported by his own party.

We need someone in there who knows something about foreign affairs, world history, politics and who is capable of compelling argument and reasoning, not someone who stomps around like a mad elephant.

 

Every Past, present, and future Concession to the Democrats is a mistake because they are on the side of the terrorists.

The democrats, and some republicans, did not like Bolton because he was not "nice", he was too tough for their little post-modern, feel good, Oprah loving, emotionally weak, brains. They want someone who will tickle their ears and be like a big old teddy bear. They want someone who will go around playing nice nice with everyone and making friends everywhere they go. But that is not what we "need". Right now we need someone who is tough, no non-sense, and who is willing to say it like it is (no matter who they offend). Bolton, in my view, was the right man for the job. On this I fully support Bush.

 

I agree. I never heard Bolton say anything out-of-line, to-the-point lots of times, but never out-of-line.

I actually liked him which surprised me. I thought he was going to be the wicked wizard of the west after all I'd heard.

I have been very pleased with the work of Ambassador Bolton. It's a shame that he won't continue in this position for the next two years.

You cannot go wrong with Cannondales. My wife & I both ride them.

It needed to happen. While my brother is in the service, I will not say anything against the war, or how it's executed. But I was glad Rummy resigned, without a fight.

He pushed thru the North Korea sanctions, and has worked very hard getting a consensus against Iran.

This isn't like the Harriet Meyers nomination, where he tried to fly in someone nobody knew anything about, Bolton is qualified, effective, and we need a tough guy to confront the most corrupt orginization on earth.

 

John Bolton was to be admired for his job at the UN. He stood out amongst the Bush administration as credible. Actually, if he was not "nice" at the UN, it was better than that organization deserves. It deserves to be dismantled.

 

I don't think anyone could deny that Bolton did a much better job than anyone could reasonably have expected, given his previous behavior.

There's a reason why even a Republican-dominated Senate wouldn't approve him.

But it's unfortunate that he's leaving now. I wouldn't have approved him, but he did a competent and able job, without embarassing us.

 

I guess we have different perspectives then.

Actually, I have listened to Ambassador Bolton before and I liked the man. I would just as soon he remain in this position, but it isn't my call.

I remember you advising me that you had one, but didn't know your wife did too. You must make the big bucks!! Even the entry-level Cannondales are expensive. Like you, I am not sure I like the full-suspension bikes though.

I may have to seriously take you up on that soon. But I have to warn you: I was in the Smoky Mountains over the Thanksgiving holiday, and was amazed at how I was getting winded as we hiked in the higher elevations, and that was only about 6000 feet ASL. I guess I will make a few trips back there before I head out to spend some quality time with you in Big Sky Country.
