I am a fan of The Book of J's translation of the Yahwist texts. Leaving aside Harold Bloom's (or anybody else's) notions as to authorship, I'm interested in knowing if any readers here have tried using that version either in study or in public reading?

    Haruo,

I am going to have to plead ignorance here - what is the Book of J and what are the Yahwist texts?

    Thanks,
    Michael

Higher criticism arbitrarily divides the OT texts by their use of the variety of names of God. It is actually quite fun to see their convoluted logic!

    Jehovah (YHWH) sections
    Elohim sections
    Deuteronomic sections
    Priestly additions sections

Am not familiar with the book (or attempt to read just "J") but sounds like more fun!
