In another thread Rippon and I exchanged information on a number of books on or about China. Those were just a scratch on the surface of those available that are very interesting reads.

What books have you read concerning China that you found interesting.

Here are a few more I have liked:

The Long March by Harrison Salisbury

The New Emperors: China in the Ear of Mao and Deng Xiaoping by Harrison Salisbury

The Rape of Nanjing: The Forgotten Holocaust by Iris Chang. I had a good friend who was a little boy living in Nanjing when this happened.

Spring Moon by Bette Bao Lord

Iron and Silk by Mark Salzman

    Classic Chinese literature includes:

Dream of the Red Chamber also known as Dream of Red Mansions

    Journey to the West

    The Three Kingdoms

Any of the Judge Dee mysteries by Van Gulik. Van Gulik give very interesting glimpses into the Chinese culture.

There are more, but this is a start.
