Which ones have been especially enlightening to you? I am looking for a good read in this department.

I have read Our Daily Bread for years and still will.
And I have read a few others,Oswell Chambers is also a good one.

A few years ago, while visiting my pastor back home in Texas he gave me a book on prayers.

FACE TO FACE, by Kenneth Boa

Talk about a prayer book that will really move you, and put you face to face with the Lord, this one will.
I liked it so much that I went out and got volume two.
This is a must have for all beleivers, you will get some much out of it, can't say enough about it.

EM Bounds has a great book on prayer.

David Jeremiah has a good one on Prayer as the Great Adventure.

I have that one on e-sword. I haven't read it yet. But I will now !!!

Or is it "Purpose in Prayer" (e-sword too)
    Just found "Essentials in Prayer"

    WHAT You don't have e-sword.
You don't know what you are missing!!!

    www.e-sword.net

    It is awesome.
    I use it for everything.
Girl, you have to get it.

    My youth love it.
We have it installed on our computers in our computer lab at church and sometimes we go there to do Bible studies. I had one youth tell me that He learned more in one Bible study on e-sword than he did last month.

The best-seller of all time on prayer, to the best of my knowledge, is Prayer: Asking and Receiving, by John R. Rice. It has sold over 500,000 copies, I believe, since 1942. Buy it at: http://www.swordofthelord.com.

This book is over 300 pages in the hardback full of teaching from the Bible and answers to prayer from the author's own experience. I read it over again and again in my youth, and it helped prepare me for life on the mission field. [IMG]

Just saw a Jewish man on television mention that prayer is not about requesting, but about praising [IMG]

Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Jesus showed us also in the Lord's prayer that it is about asking AND praising.

    I would second tinytim's recommendation for e-sword.

It is a great tool for study and prayer.
I keep it minimized while on this board and can find absolutely any reference anywhere in the Bible in seconds using the search feature.

    And, as mentioned, it's FREE!

Actually, I am trying to recall the name of a book on prayer, similar to "Hearing God's Voice" by Henry Blackaby - buts its a female author with a similar title. Anyone got any clue? Thanks

I would have to agree on this one. I would also add Dr. Lee Roberson's "Touching Heaven."
