I am always interested in reading and learning. For those on the board who embrace the doctrines of grace (i.e. TULIP), please post books and their authors that you have read and recommend that were most influential to your beliefs? A book that I found very impactful was Basic Bible Doctrines by Michael Gowens and Be Ready to Answer by the same author. What are some books you would recommend?

There are many, but I will list a few that have been instrumental for me:

The Sovereignty of God by Arthur W. Pink

The Doctrines of Grace by George S. Bishop

The Doctrines of Grace: Recovering the Evangelical Gospel by James Boice and Phillip Ryken

The Potter's Freedom by James White

Our Sovereign Saviour :The Essence of the Reformed Faith by Roger Nicole

A Journey in Grace by Richard Belcher (a theological novel)

Aside from these books which specifically zero-in on the doctrine(s) of grace --the printed sermons of Dr. M-L-Jones --especially in Romans --early in my walk, have been foundational.

My strongest suggestion is this: Don't just read books on arguments for and against Calvinism. Read books that discuss the theology of the atonement and the practical outworking of reformed theology.

I think these several books are a good representation of what I've suggested above:
Chosen by God by RC Sproul

PROOF: Finding Freedom through the Intoxicating Joy of Irresistible Grace by Daniel Montgomery and Timothy Paul Jones

    Desiring God by John Piper

In My Place Condemned He Stood: Celebrating the Glory of the Atonement by JI Packer and Mark Dever

The Doctrines of Grace: Rediscovering the Evangelical Gospel by James Montgomery Boice and Philip Graham Ryken
    Blessings,

    The Archangel

Walkington rocks! Pink's book was seminal.

On sermonaudio I recently heard an old address by his former publisher --I.C. Herendeen. The audio is unclear much of the time, but it gives us a glimpse into AWP.

The Sovereignty of God just incorporates so much biblical truth into kind of a small compass. It was hated just as much back in the 19teens as it now --a century later. But it exults God and His character. It was like a bolt out of the blue when it made its appearance. The "Christian" books at that time were of a completely different order, for the most part. Even Gresham Machen's earliest material didn't come out until the 20s.

Even in my own experience Pink's name has been spat out like an obscenity. Oh well, what is despised by the world (even of professing Christians)is God-honoring.

Edited your 3rd item because there are two James (Boice or Boyce) Baptist authors. Besides that, I would highly recommend that book!
