received this from Crosswalk.com's Religion News Summary for 11-13-2002. Chalk one up for the "good guys!!"

    ------------------------

(Family Research Council) The Boy Scouts' constitutional rights to
determine membership and guiding moral principals have been upheld once
again. Last year the D.C. Human Rights Commission ordered the Boy
Scouts to reinstate two homosexuals as Scout Masters and pay $50,000 to
each in penalties. Last week, a D.C. federal appeals court rejected the
commission's ruling, holding that it violated the Scouts' constitutional
rights. The appellate court cited the June 2000 U.S. Supreme Court
ruling that upheld the Boy Scouts' right to exclude homosexuals from
leadership positions. Despite this Supreme Court ruling, the
politicized D.C. commission attempted to force the Scouts to abandon
their historic moral principles with this finding. The appellate court
ruling emphasizes again that political correctness does not trump basic
    constitutional rights.

    God Bless!!!

I ccannot understand why the dc human rights commission can not see the difficulty with working with children . The problem with so much of "political correctness" is it does not care about the real rights of children and parents!

Now that the Scouts have kicked out the homosexual scout masters, they need to start on the cheating spouse scout masters next. My son (a scout) would tell us of the "little" things going on between the Scout Master (married) and another woman scout master (also married).

I don't think having the Scouts go COED was a very good idea. The temptations they face appears to be too much. Remember that the Scouts are NOT A CHRISTIAN organization and this is what can be expected when Jesus is not a required part of the group leadership. To those parents that think it is "safe to go back in the water"... think again. The group is now a "Deist" Group, not Christian.

I would have rather the Sct Master have been Gay and faithful than hetero and unfaithful as a role model for my son. We had to take him out of scouts after finding out about the lack of Morals within the leadership.

Whilst agreeing that young people need a good role model from heterosexuals I do not consider it is a case of choosing one option above another.

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to GOD and my country. To obey the 12 point Scout Law, to help other people at all times, and to keep myself physically clean, mentally awake, and morally straight.

    A Scout is:

    Trustworthy
    Loyal
    Helpful
    Friendly
    Curtious
    Kind
    Odedient
    Cheerful
    Thrifty
    Brave
    Clean
    and Reverent

I think that I got them all right.

The latest decline by the Scouts has been to change the meaning and context of "God" into a more universally accepted "god(s)". The term "reverent" can apply to any god's.

Let's face facts, this isn't a Christian Based Group, and can create a very negative influence on our children, depending on the morals, ethics, religion, and behavior of the individual Scout Masters.

I think each of these determinations should be listed and a record kept on each Scout Master. A criminal background check is the first step required (which I hope they already do). Most pediphiles have no prior record so other investigations into their friends and family should be done also. This should be followed by a psychological evaluation, a declaration of that person's Religion and social beliefs. All these facts should be made public for the parents to view. Then an on-going record that accepts any complaints from parents without that parent being exposed for turning in information.

In my son's case, I had no proof of his cheating ways except through my son's observations. I would not want to get sued by these Scout Masters but if I and several other parents could anonymously report the same problems on the scout master, then obviously they would have to take it seriously. They may need to take some of the same steps that the Catholic Church is doing in order to eliminate problem Scout Masters.

So what do you do? You post this unfounded, slanderous acusation on an international website for everyone to read. Yes, we can see that you are really worried about getting sued...

Perhaps you were just trying to make a point for your own political agenda?

Maybe, maybe not. But without women leaders, there would be no program in many areas because there aren't enough men able or willing to do the job. This is especially true with Cub Scouts.

Your criticism of the Scouts being a "deist organization" is out of place. So far as I know, the requirements have not changed; it was never an explicitly Christian organization, although its membership might have been. The oath has not changed: "On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
    and to obey the Scout Law;
    To help other people at all times;
    To keep myself physically strong,
    mentally awake, and morally straight."

It's not a religious organization, although it has a religious component.

As to the adults' behavior: Boy Scouts, like all volunteer organizations (and the workplace) is subject to all the nasty, backbiting talk imaginable -- and some of it is true. The best antidote is to recruit good leaders -- and volunteer to be one.

It is a shame parents of molested boy's didn't make the same acusations years ago against the Priesthood of another international organization based on similar evidence... their own children word.

Part of that agenda is to protect children from ANY immoral scout masters.

I should have used the word polytheist instead of deist. True, the oat has not changed, but the meaning has. This recent episode where they kick the boy scout out unless he used "ANY" god as a reference made it clear that the BSA polytheist.

yes Johnv......but the issue is that the matter was brought up here but not to the appropriate authorities who can deal with it. If we really cared we would not be using this forum to propogate the information first.
