Bradley Walker rises to meet physical challenges

Singer ready to inspire at Big Spring Jam

Thursday, September 25, 2008 By CHRIS WELCH
    Times Entertainment Writer,

He's never been able to walk, but bluegrass singer Bradley Walker of Athens continues to take huge steps and inspire those physically challenged.

At the age of 3, Walker, who was born with muscular dystrophy and has been in a wheelchair his entire life, sang "Elvira" backstage at the Von Braun Center with the Oak Ridge Boys.

In 1989, he started performing on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and has continued to help the fundraising efforts for Muscular Dystrophy.

[IMG] In 2002, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut and has appeared with Mark Wills, Vince Gill, Dawn Sears and Alecia Nugent.

In 2006, he released his first album, "Highway of Dreams," and, in 2007, was named Entertainer of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
