Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been selected as theologian of the year by The Door magazine, a Christian satire publication.

More Americans get their theology from movies, television and the media than from all the churches combined.

Buffy doesn't surprise me if it WERE true and not satire!

I must spend more time at the telly. Books are becoming so expensive......Who is Buffy?

I agree, Dr. Bob. I have heard some of the deep theological thoughts that have come from the pictures.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Buffy is the main character of a program called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," also referred to as simply "Buffy." It's a series spun from the early 90s film of the same name. The film was terrible, but the program is actually quite good. I've watched it regularly for the last four seasons.

I've got the book the thing on the Simpsons was taken from, "The Gospel According to the Simpsons".

It's really interesting and I think most people who don't watch the show regularly would be surprised how much of teh content of the show is sympathetic to Judeo-Christian ideals.

Hmm . . . that's one I'll have to check out. I've got "The D'oh of Homer," but have been so immersed in political theory lately I haven't gotten past the first chapter. It's amazing how much can be gleaned from The Simpsons.

God help us! Buffy the Vampire Witch? Theology?? Mainstream Christianity? So we have gone from The Andy Griffith Show videos on Sunday nite to some God denying witch scenes, have we?!!

Jim1999! Keep buying the books--they are expensive, true but look at the alternative. I buy them one at the time spread out over the course of a year--doesn't pinch the pocketbook too hard.

    Your friend,
    Blackbird

I have seen enough of "Buffy" to know that the show is far from anything that a christian needs to have put before their eyes.

Sarah Michelle Gellar said in a recent interview that she has read the entire Bible through and developed her own system of religion, cafeteria style, from the world's major religions.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the culture we must evangelize.
