That doesn't change the hypocrisy of the republicans. When it was a republican president it was alright to raise the debt ceiling; now that it is a democrat in the White House, it is a different story.
Nah, they aren't hypocrites at all. They are
very clear in their agenda that they represent the corporations and the ultra-wealthy. And therein lies the sheer
brilliance of the right wing machine: they have the middle class and the upper middle class convinced they are part of the status quo. Though God has rewarded me over the years, and I probably do better than many on this board, I am not rich enough to be a Republican - and I used to be one (a very active one).
This will be interesting to watch though. The GOP has to be very careful, as they risk serious damage to the swing voters, especially those who potentially may not receive a Social Security check if there is no deal. That would also include those who watch their dollars shrink as the US defaults on its debt. If the GOP ends up taking the blame, it could set them back years.
