1 Peter :24 NASB
and He Himself brought our sins in His body up on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you were healed.

When starting a study of any verse, one of our first questions for analysis is to whom is the verse addressed?
Here the audience is those who have been "called," referring to those who have been transferred spiritually into Christ and made alive (born anew).

The Greek verb translated here as "brought" refers to bringing a sacrifice to an alter, and in this case Christ sacrificing Himself on the cross. His sacrifice was for our sins, all the sins of humanity.

Once saved (born anew) we have the opportunity to avoid sins and choose to live for righteousness (according to God's will for our lives).

This is our obligation because by Christ's suffering and sacrifice of His life, we (those born anew) were healed.
