Byron Nelson passed away. His wife found him when she returned from Bible study this morning . . .

My prayers are with his family.

    Who was he?

A gentleman and a record setting golfer. Once won 11 straight tourneys in a year in which he won more tourneys than anyone before or since. He's credited with the modern golf swing, utilizing hips and torso rotation. He had a wonderful swing. I never heard he was a believer though. Anyone know?

I am not certain, but the way they talked about him on TV yesterday, I would be surprised to hear that he was not a believer.

As a golfer, he set a record that may never be broken.

I have no idea about his spiritual condition, but he always conducted himself as a true gentleman and raised millions upon millions of dollars for charities.

He will be missed by many.

Tiger Woods said Joe Dimaggio's record of hitting safely in 56 consecutive games will go down before Nelson's. Nelson always played down that record and said he couldn't do it against golfers in their prime today even if he was in his prime. Classy way to answer it.
