CA Homosexuals Want Phallic Memorial

Shades of Pompeii and Herculaneum, destroyed by Mount Vesuvius many years ago. It was considered in vogue to have a phallic symbol by one's front entrance.

Gee, I'm the everyone else, who is really normanl, and I don't picket and hold up signs about my sex life, I don't have orgies, nor do I prance around in sexually explicit clothing enacting sexual acts in public.

Why is it that there are thousands of obelisk monuments around our country and nobody thinks anything about them but when it's for gays, al of a sudden, it's phallic?

Why are you guys not outraged about the "Herndon Climb" at the U.S. Naval Academy? If an obelisk monument is phallic, are these young men latent homosexuals.

We went to Washington a couple of weeks ago during the first warm spell of spring. I got some great pictures of us in front of the phallic memorial to George Washington.

Not to be rude, but isn't the Washington Monument phallic? (Several detractors during its construction found that very similatiry to be a reason to denounce the project... one of those meaningless pieces of trivia).

As for a "gay, lesbian, et al" veterans memorial, I see no need for one. All soldiers, gay and straight, sexually active and celibate, are memorialized in the currect veteran memorials, sans WW2 (the WW2 memorial is currently under construction).

Now, if a private group wants to do it on private land with private funds, that's certainly their prerogative, just as it would be for private individuals to have a "Christian Veteran's" memorial, "Veterans Who Were Grandparents" memorial, or "Veterans Who Were Pet Owners" memorial, if one so desires.

 

When the article refers to phallic in nature, you can be sure that it does not refer to an obelisk but rather to the male sexual organ. Enough said...

 

Right, but it's the writer who applies the phallic imagery to it, not the group advocating the monument and I think it's obvious that the writer did this to cast the gays in this case in a bad light. I expect better than this from TVC.

 

I am sorry, but the new version of political correctness is ridiculous. Why have a monument based upon sexual orientation? Perhaps mainstream straights should present a monument for non gay soldiers. If we do not make a point soon, the rights of Christians will be irrevocably removed from us.

 

Oh Wow - imagine that, what a novel idea. A Sodomite memorial. How about the ashes in the desert where God judged their "alternative" deathstyle? Oh My! Too Old? How about the gravestone over Jesse Dirkhising's grave? Or how about the gravestone that is over that College professor's grave out east that was murdered by those two Sodomite lovers? Sounds like a winner to me.
