California can now start jailing people that refuse to use the preferred gender pronouns of nursing home residents after Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill Thursday.

The law’s effect is limited to nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, but mandates that those who “willfully and repeatedly” refuse “to use a transgender resident’s preferred name or pronouns” can be slapped with a $1,000 fine and up to one year in prison, according to the California Heath and Safety code.

Known as the “LGBT Senior Bill Of Rights,” the legislation also requires nursing homes and care facilities to allow residents to use the bathroom of their choice, regardless of biological sex. The bill’s author, state Sen. Scott Weiner, argues that religious views don’t hold weight in public areas.

Here we go again - jailing people for speech is against the 1A and applies to the states via the 14A. You know what's going to happen here - the Ninth Circus will uphold the law, then SCOTUS will strike this one down. Constitutional rights don't end on public property, the nursing home could fire somebody for doing this but they can't thrown you in jail for calling a she a he or a he a she.

California is really going on full-tilt under Moonbeam, from the author of this unconstitutional "law::

Wiener said. “But when you enter the public space, when you are running an institution, you are in a workplace, you are in a civil setting, and you have to follow the law.”

Yet this doesn't apply in Spanish and the whole state can't seem to follow federal immigration law.

It will be found to be unconstitutional the first case that reaches SCOTUS. In the meantime, the leftwing nazis that run California will disrupt some poor person's life over ...what...being offended?

Idiots.

Seriously. So a nurse is changing the underclothing and diaper of a male who has just wet through their clothing. She calls him a "he" and she goes to jail because this man with male parts wants to be a "she"???? OY!!

We don’t call them “diapers”. We call them by their brand name. Like “Attends” undergarments. Or “Always Safe” undergarments. Diapers is a no-no.

I use the client’s preferred name. If you are dealing with a client in a conversation I can’t see why you would say “ he” or “she”. Also, we have single bathrooms.
