I totally don't understand how the beach is inaccessible to the poor if they are free? What are the costs that do not include parking and fees? Around here on Long Island (read: many beaches), you have to have a pass to park at any of the beaches in season. We have village beaches, town beaches, county beaches and state beaches and all have associated costs to park during certain hours but if you go before or after those hours, you can get in for free. We like to go to the state beaches after 4 pm when parking is free and the ocean beaches here are fantastic.

But I'm just not getting what the bill is and how it will make it more accessible for the poor.

Neither am I, getting it!? It is just another attempt by the left to spend our tax dollars to subsidize those they call poor! Plus it furthers the idea among the poor that ther is a major class divide, and the government, the left, is going to right the wrong!

What is wrong with helping poor people?

Nothing! However, there really isn't a problem. The left, who run and ruin Claifornia, want to make it one more social issue! It is not a racial thing. An economic thing. But, if you read the link, it is pone more attempt to pit "Us against Them!"

I could go to the beach about now.

Mrs. Rolf likes the Newport Beach/Corona Del Mar area. Never saw the attraction to anywhere near L.A. Though there was a good restaurant in Huntington Beach across the road from the Pier...

Taxpayers in California are suppose to subsidize visits to the free beaches? It looks like the article is concerned that the beaches are "too white". Maybe non-white people aren't as interested in tanning?

Liberals see everything through their racist-colored glasses.
