Camp meetings (overnight or not) around the US?

I haven't heard of all night camp meetings.

 

There is a camp meeting here in Central Ky by Saline Baptist church. They have it down at Canaan campgrounds. The Rochester's always play the first night, and the preaching is fair. Fellowship is pretty good though.

There are also the Revival Fire meetings. In KY those are usually at Clay's Mill Baptist Church, Bro. Fugate pastors there, or in Lousiville at Shawnee Baptist (I think). I usually don't go to these but they are quite popular with the Hyles crowd.

 

I'm not a big Hyles guy either, but sometimes there are some preachers I can handle from the crowd.

I don't know any of the guys really... wish I could be of more help there.

Also, I know there is a street preachers convention in Memphis each year during the Beale (sp?) Festival. It used to be run by Ken Lansing I think... Gerald Sutek crowd... and one in NY, and one in CA...

I wish I knew of more good camp meetings. Round these here parts there aint much pickin', even though it's the Bible belt. I think the buckle has done gone rusty on it...

there is always the Baptist Blowout down at PBI... haha... you would have to be fond of the Ruckman crowd though... which most aren't.

 

There is a Primitive Baptist Camp meeting held each year in July. 3 churches rotate hosting each year. They are the churches at McMahan, Doss, and Stratton, all in south central Texas near Austin and San Antonio. It starts Thursday and runs through Sunday, typically with 3 separate 2 hour (or so) services held each day (save on Sunday), and some Sacred Harp singing sessions held at various points throughout. There is onsite camping available, but most opt for nearby motels. The fellowship typically continues at the various motels after dark where blocks of rooms are held by attendees. I didn't make it this year, but I look forward to going next year.

 

My husband went to this camp meeting in June and we plan on going together in November. He said it is simply spectacular! The youth choir is tremendous and listening to their CDs it's worth going just to get a good dose of them!

If there were a local meeting that wasn't KJVO, I might consider it. Otherwise, I could not participate.

 

Really? Hmmm.... I didn't know that, Scripture please? This is the FUNDAMENTAL section... All doctrines must be bible based...

So please show me the scripture that a KJV must be used in order for the Lord's power to be present....

Again, that was just my opinion, and maybe it was a bad example of what the sermons would be like.

About 10 yrs ago, I attended and preached in an all night preachin...
and the sermons were like this.
I was even like that...

To each his own I guess...

 

We have several wilderness camp meetings every year. In some, we do Bible study and preaching for several days straight. Some, we moose hunt and do Bible study and preaching in the field. Canoeing, shooting, you name it! (BTW, when it's -30 your shoes freeze to the floor of the cabin.) The ladies do crafting retreats in the same way.

 

Yeah, but if you aren't ready or able to re-learn the different English, the older KJVs are like eating a T-bone with chopsticks.

 

So, the book must be First Opinions. How about a chapter and verse?
