I heard Joyce Meyer say that she was led by the HS many years ago to become sinless, and says she hasnt sinned since.

I believe making that statement was a sin unto itself.

is that state able to be reached by us or not?
No, we will never reach sinless perfection before we die. We though will see a change as we now have been born again, but we will never achieve a status of no sin

If that is possible then Jesus didn't need to suffer on the cross to pay for our sins.
Not necessarily(as I play the devils advocate here) because if a person were to achieve sinless perfection, he at one time wasn't and therefore would still need Christ. If a person were to sin one time and be perfect the rest of his life, he would still need Christ.

My question is, can a Christian attain sinless perfection for a weekend?
It's our wondering that gets us. It's looking at something we admire and desire instantly. Once desire is there oop's we've sinned.

On a serious note, I think yes - you can. Just think about it - can you go the next five minutes without sinning? What about the next hour? Day? Even Hitler wasn't sinning constantly.

To go out in left field, I think that if there is a pretrib rapture, it won't be open to anyone engaged in sin at the moment it happens, any such person will have to sit out the tribulation.

If that's true then there will be a lot of sealed Christians going through the trib. What you may not understand is that when Christ died for the sins of the world, He died for all sin for all time other wise He would have had to come back and die for each generation. Our sins are forgiven past, present, and future.

For myself it's hard to explain just how the atonement paid for all sin. We simply aren't under the Law we are under grace. There will be no perfect men ever until our flesh has been regenerated as is our Spirit. Sin lives in our flesh as it is now. Perfection will only come when Christ make us completely perfect.
Christ is the author and finisher of our faith.

My statement regarding the pretrib rapture and sin was actually very considered. Before the Children of Israel crossed the Jordan (on dry land) which to me is a symbol for the Rapture, there was a purification process they all had to go through. God says he didn't want to see anything that would offend him. And also in the gospels, Christ says the foolish servant says, "My master is taking a long time in his coming" and begins to eat and drink with the drunkards and beat his fellow servants and the Master comes on a day he didn't expect and assigns him a place with the evil doers.
I'm saying that maybe that means they miss the Rapture (though not losing Salvation). Now some say that has nothing to do with the Rapture and maybe they're right but maybe they're wrong. There are several verses I have in mind actually.

(Gal 5:19-21) Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I heard Joyce Meyer say that she was led by the HS many years ago to become sinless, and says she hasn't sinned since.

I'm not clear as to exactly what this Joyce Meyer said,
but I'm certain that you can "rise above" condemnation
once you "rise above" the Ego/Self-directed Christian
life into the Spirit-directed Christian life
. The "accuser
of the brethren" no longer can interject his condemnation
into your mind since you now "have the mind of Christ". 1 Cor 2:16

But the natural man [ego/self-directed]
receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because they are
spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth
all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord,
that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ.
- 1 Cor 2:14-16

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of
the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free
from the law of sin and death.
- Rom 8:1-2

MB. That is not correct. Desire is not sin. Coveting is sin. While all coveting requires desire not all desire is coveting.

Of course he was. He was an unsaved unbeliever.

Yep. That's left field alright.

Although ironically (or not) his very last conscious act before dying was a sin - suicide.

Why is suicide a sin?

Did Christ commit suicide by "giving His life" when He could have very easily avoided death?

Do soldiers who knowing they will die if they go into a certain battle commit suicide?

If Christ truly has the key of death, and determines when a person is to die, then is suicide even capable?
