Can a man who commits suicide still go to heaven?

I guess Martin’s answer in your previous thread won’t exactly fit with this one.

Yes. I see no qualification in 1 John 1:9 and no deficiency in the blood of Christ to save all who come to Him in repentance and faith.
I’ve known a few people who have committed suicide.
It’s a selfish act of desperation. (Personally I’m angered at their action and find it difficult to forgive them).
They leave behind loved ones that are torn and tattered.
Unless the attempt is unsuccessful, there is no chance of the person repenting of their sin.
But I view suicide as an act of desperation of person with a sick and damaged mind.
God knows their inner being. He will not abandon his own, even in sickness of mind.

Making repentance of each sin a prerequisite for forgiveness puts the burden on us rather than God. Its like saying, “I must repent (for each sin) or I’m not saved.”
If you believe that you’ve made a case for the Catholic custom last rites.

So the questions should be,
  • Can a person who has trusted God for their salvation/deliverance turn away and greviously sin?
  • Can a person who has been redeemed through the blood of the Savior be unforgiven?
  • Will God abandon a wayward sheep?

Mark Chapter 3:28-30

“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”— because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Salvation depends on believing the gospel of Christ. An act of suicde will not change God's promise, Romans 4:5, John 10:27-30. 1 John 5:4-5, Revelation 3:5. 1 John 5:9-13. Titus 1:2.

I like David Jeremiah’s comment along these lines of thought!!
“How many of your sins were future when Jesus died to pay for them?”l

Many believe they won’t based on a misunderstanding of 1 Corinthians 3:17. To destroy God’s temple, in that context, is to bring destruction to God’s church through infighting among believers.

peace to you

In Romans 8:38-39 Paul’s that nothing can separate us from the love of God, and then lists a bunch of things. If nothing can separate from God’s love, then this would have to also include suicide, correct?

Heres a question to further the discussion…can a truly saved person commit suicide? What do you think?

I believe so. In the early 90's I worked on a psych ward. Rarely, if ever, did we encounter a person who attempted (or later committed) suicide that did not have an underlying mental health condition.

When the witch of Endor conjured up Samuel's spirit(?) from the grave for Saul, Samuel told Saul "to-morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me". Samuel was in the waiting place of the righteous. Saul committed suicide. You figure.
