I'm doing nursery for VBS this year {I have thrre more weeks to prepare!} and I'd asked the babies' mom's what they thought I could do with them. They said Bible stories, singing, and colering are things there little ones can do, and would be good for VBS. Well I've got the Bible stories, and I'm getting the color sheets, but i need help remembering the words to these songs:

    Father Abraham
Jesus Loves The Children Of The World
His Banner Over Me Is Love
If your saved and you know it

I figure the little one's would like some of those since they get to move around in the song! :D So does anyone know the words to those off hand?

    Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and Yellow Black and White
They are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world

Or, if you're an Eagles' fan,

We're all part of Andy's army
We love all our boys in green
And we'll really shake 'em up
    When we win Lombardi's Cup
For Philly has the greatest football team

(by the way, yes, I know it's not a "cup" but trophy doesn't rhyme)

    Or, if you're my grandfather,

God save Ireland say the heroes
God save Ireland say we all
    Whether on the scaffold high
    Or the battlefield we die
    Makes no difference when
    For Ireland dear we fall

I know I know "His Banner Over Me is Love" but I'm haveing a mental blank right now. If I can remember it, I'll get back to you.

I don't know "Father Abraham". I know "St. Stephen". Does that count?

His Banner Over Me Is Love

Jesus is the Rock of my salvation,
His banner over me is love.
Jesus is the Rock of my salvation,
His banner over me is love.
Jesus is the Rock of my salvation,
His banner over me is love.
His banner over me is love.

    Additional Verses:
    2. He brought me to His banqueting table, His banner over me is love....

    3. He clothed me with His robe of righteousness, His banner over me is love....

    4. He gave me peace through the power of the cross, His banner over me is love....

    5. And now I am a new creation, His banner over me is love....

    6. There's therefore now no condemnation, His banner over me is love....

    7. He's gone to make a place for me, His banner over me is love....

    8. While I wait, His voice I'll heed, His banner over me is love....

    My neices' favourite. [IMG]

    God Bless

    Enda

Here are the words (and the actions, if you are planning to use them too) to "Father Abraham":

    Father Abraham had many sons
    Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
    Right arm!

    Father Abraham had many sons
    Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
    Right arm, left arm!

    Father Abraham had many sons
    Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot!

    Father Abraham had many sons
    Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot!

    Father Abraham had many sons
    Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot,
    Chin up!

    Father Abraham had many sons
    Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot,
    Chin up, turn around!

    Father Abraham had many sons
    Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot,
Chin up, turn around, sit down!

    Actions:

Right arm: Clench fist, bend and extend arm upward repeatedly throughout song

Left arm: Add left arm in same motion as right

Right foot: Add right foot stepping up and down

Left foot: Add left foot stepping up and down

Chin up: Add head nodding up and down

Turn around: Add turning in place while continuing other motions

    Sit down: Sit down :)

This song is always a big favorite at our VBS - we had ours the second week of June. I am the perennial secretary [IMG] and after I get done with the attendance roll and counting the offering, I go out and sing with the kids in the music area. It is so much fun!

By the way, I might as well share something that we started last year as an incentive for offerings - the kids seem to really love it, and our offerings have doubled since before we did this two years ago. We have a "heavy offering" night - the boys offering and the girls offering are weighed separately, and the winner is the one with the "heaviest" offering! They get recognition at the end of the day's VBS assembly. We send the VBS offering to the Children's Home, and know that we are helping in some small way to make life easier for a lot of children who are in dire need.

    Hi Abby,

Mike McK gave the chorus to "Jesus loves the little children", which is all I ever knew as a kid myself, but originally it was a full-fledged hymn:

    • </font>
    • 2. Jesus is the Shepherd true,
And He’ll always stand by you,
      For He loves the little children of the world;
He’s a Savior great and strong,
And He’ll shield you from the wrong,
For He loves the little children of the world.

      </font>
    • 3. I am coming, Lord, to Thee,
And Your soldier I will be,
      For You love the little children of the world;
And Your cross I’ll always bear,
And for You I’ll do and dare,
For You love the little children of the world.</font>
</font>[/QUOTE]The tune was originally composed for the Civil War lyrics "Tramp! Tramp! Tramp!" - a Union Army song that also became popular, with slightly altered lyrics, among the Confederate troops. ( Northern Lyrics / Southern Lyrics).
