Record 72W 38L Best in the Majors

Team Batting -.281 Best in the NL 3rd in the Majors

    Home Runs - Pujols 31 3rd in Majors, Edmonds 30 4th, and Rolen 26 12th

Stolen Bases - Womack 18 13th in Majors

    On Base % - Rolen .416 6th in Majors, Edmonds .414 8th, Puljos .405 13th.

    Slugging % - Edmonds .649 2nd in Majors, Rolen .621 6th, and Pujols .620 7th.

    Stolen Base % - Sanders 87.5 6th in Majors, Womack 85.7 7th.

    Runs - Pujols 94 1st in Majors, Rolen 80 10th, Edmonds 75 17th.

    Total Bases - Pujols 253 1st in Majors, Rolen 243 3rd, Edmonds 229 19th.

    Pitching

Team ERA - 3.81 4th in Majors, btw the AL dosn't show up on this list until 8th.

    Wins - Carpenter 12 7th in Majors, Marquis 12 7th, Morris 12 7th, overall 9 pitchers are tied for 7th.

    Saves - Isringhausen 29 9th in Majors

    Winning % - Carpenter .750 5th in Majors, Marquis .750 5th in Majors, 7 Players tied for 5th.

Now add Larry Walker to the line up and who can opposing teams pitch around. About the only player safe for them to who they can throw a good pitch is the Cardinals pitchers. Most everyone else is dangerous in one way or another.

    My predictions for the Playoffs.

AL East - New York Yankees
    AL Central - Minnesota Twinkies
AL West - I can only count Seattle out of this one.
AL Wild Card - Whomever ends up 2nd place in the West.

AL Champs - New York Yankees

    NL East - Atlanta Braves
NL Central - St. Louis Cardinals
    NL West - LA Dodgers
NL Wild Card - San Diego or San Francisco

NL Champs - St. Louis Cardinals

World Series Champs - St Louis Cardinals

Let me fill in the AL West for ya: Angels. If not, then they'll be the wildcard holders. Angels will go on to win the ALDS, but will not take the ALCS.

    Hey Now!
Don't forget the Cubs. Could be the dark horse. Won't give up on them until they're mathematically elimanated.

Cards have a great regular season team, the pitching however in a short season would be at best suspect. That is why so many are watching the Cubs so carefully, with everyone healthy they are serious trouble for other teams in a short season, but then there is that curse thing. Same problem with the Red Sox. Really watch the Braves, they are coming together and the pitchers are finally listening to "Rockin" Leo Mazilli (SP). Nobody wants to play the Yankess...way too many ghosts. The Rangers are starting to fade as are the Phillies. Of course the Angels are right there as well.
My pick for World Series winner...Braves over Angels

Sorry your fishy's lost. So I guess the CARDINALS won. [IMG]

Would someone please tell how the CARDINALS pitching is suspect?
While this may not be the greatest pitching staff of all time, but it is a good solid pitching staff. It is also a pitching staff backed by an AWESOME offence. It is a fact that the CARDINALS as of today have the third best ERA in the Major Leagues and is 5th in Saves. Where is the pitching suspect?

As for the CARDINALS not being able to play in a short season which I assume you mean to be the post season, they have won 6.5 of every 10 games played for the entire season, and in the last 30 days they have won 7.3 of every 10 games. If we break that down to the NLDS then they should win three of the five games in the series. That puts them into the NLCS were they should win 5 of 7 games, and onto the World Series where they should win 5 of 7 games making then the World Champions!

Now I know that you can make stats say anything you want as I just demonstrated, but it is also a fact that the CARDINALS are winning 7.3 of every 10 games right now and if the playoff all go the full 5 or 7 games then the CARDINALS should win 13 of then!

Congrats on winning last night. It was a fun game to watch - a real pitcher's duel going to the 10th inning. Getting two runs with only two hits is definitely getting the most bang for buck. But only two hits agains the Marlins pitching???

Can they win it all? Sure - they have a very good team. My pick though, is the Braves and Yankees in the Series. We'll have to wait and see.

The Cards do not have a domoninate stopper, they have pretty good pitchers, but not great. Remember last years World Series, the Marlins had games in which they dominated, the Cards don't have such pitcher. In the long regular season, pretty good pitchers will put up good numbers, especially with the Card's offense, but in the short season they could be in trouble. Because they would only have to be beat for three games, something a staff like the Cubs could pull off, even though they may not be the best team.

Somehow the Rangers are still hanging in there - 1/2 game behind the As, tied with the Angels. Boston and Cleveland have stepped up in the wild card chase - and Cle is looking good to overtake the twinkies. Its going to be a fun race right to the finish!

True New York is odd. Go Cardinals. As I have said for years, Tony LaRussa, the best manager in baseball.
