Has anyone here seen the nightline report on the debate between Kirk Cameron/Ray Comfort and those two atheist that have issued the "blaspheme God" challange?

Ray Comfort says he can prove that God exists. Can he convince those atheist through evidence and agrgument that God exists?

Do you think anyone can do that?

No, everyone in history who has ever tried has made a fool of themselves and Christianity in general. There is a reason we are taught that FAITH can move mountains. We accept the existense of God on FAITH alone. Faith in it's very essense means belief without any logical proof.

Thank you filmproducer for that comment. I agree that faith is the starting point. However, I will point out that atheist can look pretty foolish in their arguments too.

    Anyone disagree?

Nope. It takes faith. Although there is a huge amount of evidence in creation alone. But, even though God has revealed Himself through nature, many will still reject Him. No one comes to the Son except that the Father draws him.

I don't think God expects us to convince anyone of His existence. We are to present the gospel and God does the rest.

Yes. I thought faith was the evidence of what is not seen? If there's evidence, that means there's logical proof.

    Hello JD.

I think a reasoned argument is easier for us and I think people can be persuaded that our argument has more merit than the atheist.
We say God created the universe and they do not know how the universe came into being. There really can be only predudice that makes a person disbelieve in God. At least an open minded atheist should be convinced that being agnostic is a more reasonable position to take or at least it will show that both sides hang on nothing tangible, that both beliefs are valid or both are not.

HEB 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.

Can one be certain of anything unproved?

Challenge an atheist to ask Jesus to reveal Himself to them. If they refuse to look we are entitled to claim they do not examine our evidence. :) All one is asking them to do is to talk into the air, it is not an admission by them that they believe God exists. I was saved in this way.

Yes to question #1, and no to question #2. No answer to question #3, because it depends on which of the first two questions it refers to.

The Bible tells us that creation is proof of the existence of God, so I don't know how someone who believes scripture can say that it is impossible to prove that God exists.

In other words, the existence of God is "plain" from creation. That God exists can be "clearly seen" from creation. Certain attributes about God are "understood" through creation. Those are words of proof. People are without excuse because the proof is there.

But whether people are going do be convinced of what they know, deep down, is true is a whole other question. People regularly exchange the truth (or the proof) of God for a lie. People regularly choose not to acknowledge God, even though the proof is there, and they know it.

If people haven't acknowledged the God proved to them in creation, they probably aren't going to acknowledge Ray Comfort's proof, either.

No. You can't prove a negative.
Can you prove I won't wash my car today?

God has given evidence for his existence, but ultimately, finite man cannot prove the existence of the infinite God.

I havent been able to watch the video yet, except for Ray Comforts first presentation. But I don't think that a Christian will ever look like anything else to the world.

    1 Corinthians 1:18
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

I don't believe your definition of faith is in any way accurate. There is much logical proof for the existence of God. That is the definition that the atheists want you to accept for faith. As Ray pointed out, the very fact of creation is evidence of a creator. In the absence of a valid mechanism for producing a creation without a creator, it would seem to be the obvious explanation by default.

Even though there is evidence for a creator in nature, and it's quite obvious, because people love the world so much, they will harden their hearts in unbelief. So, it's impossible for a mere human to convince someone of the existence of God if they have their hearts set against believing in a creator.

Someone used a great quote on another thread that an atheist looks for God in the same manner a thief looks for a police officer.
