Canadian Federal elections

I'm an election watcher, no matter where it is. Typically, if more people are getting out and voting than usual, it means the incumbent is in trouble. The liberals are leading in every poll I've seen of late. Is it your belief that Trudeau will win?

 

I had a long-term contract in Big Vancouver a few years ago.

I like Harper but I think Trudeau will probably pull it out. Don't think much of him, more the right name than the right credentials but I think it will result in a Liberal minority or Liberal NDP coalition government. Quebec is set up to be the swing area. Good luck up there.

I am from Canada and very pleased with the outcome of the election. Time will tell what Trudeau does for us and our country. I was glad to see so many voters out and exercising their right to vote. This was one of the strongest voter turnouts.

 

Is this the same guy that when asked which nation he admired most said

"There's a level of admiration I actually have for China. Their basic dictatorship is actually allowing them to turn their economy around on a dime."

 

Not sure, but it sounds like something he would say. He did say he would run budget deficits for "three years" in order to create public works projects to get the economy going again. They're hurting because of lower oil prices. One thing that surprised me--he's for the Keystone XL pipeline, at least he said he was while campaigning.

 

So what do you think happened to Harper here? Baby Trudeau and his party beat them pretty soundly, what's up with that? I know Obama campaigned for Trudeau and got his way this time and my guess is Putin is happy about this but Bibi isn't.

So, why? Conservatives up there have told me that Trudeau won by all his positive media coverage and also that it was Harper's own fault for supporting that C-51 thing that's supposed to be a Canadian patriot act but even worse.

Or was it simply Harper Fatigue Syndrome? The guy had been around for a long time. The Canadian dollar already plummeted but I think that's an overreaction to the lurch left. Brace yourself for more Muslim immigrants, because Trudeau is going to flood the place now.

 

I predict they will make it worse. The middle class will suffer.

Liberals always do.

 

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions and the one thing I have learned is if you are talking politics it is going to get messy. Not everybody is going to agree. I am not a confrontational person so I will leave it at that. Time will tell what Trudeau will do for our country but we have to give him a change to see what he does. I believe we needed a change and we got it and it was obvious that many other Canadians felt the same way when you see the results of the voting.

 

Yeah. We elected a "change" candidate and got an economic illiterate divider presiding over a thoroughly corrupt administration.
