Agreed. But the attitude of these employers is they didn't allow them in here in the first place. Heard it with my own ears from a builder on CNN.

 

If the unemployment rate is under 5% and there are 12 million illegal workers then the Illegals must not be taking any jobs from Americans.

 

The figure is actually closer to 20 million illegal aliens.

Americans are normally afraid to take wages under the table because the IRS would be after us. The IRS doesn't even know who the illegal aliens are to go after them for taxes. If the INS doesn't know where they are, the IRS doesn't know either. If anyone really cared, they would go to parking lots in every city across America and round up the day laborers and the employers who are hiring them.

 

Then the case for the aliens is better. There are only 250 million people in this country. At least half are to young, to old, or to disabled to work. this leave a max of 125 million workers and 5% of that is a maximum of 6.25 million unemployed people looking for work.

 

Well, I'll tell you what - with all the jobs that were shipped to Mexico for NAFTA and all the American companies moving down there, it looks like there should be plenty of work down there in their own country for them. If they're really here so they can work.

I wish someone could explain to me how someone who works for $5.00 an hour doing a "job Americans won't do" can save up $5,000 or $6,000 a couple of times a year to pay to smugglers to get their family members across the border. But that's what I saw on CNN the other night.

 

Don't believe everything you see on CNN.

 

Easy solution, take the illegal aliens, ship them back to Mexico, and secure the border. Ok, now, all these deadbeats on welfare say, we got a job for you. Take it or lose your benefits. No problem. We need to learn to live on the resouces we have, including oil. Are we so fat and lazy as Americans we are afraid of certain jobs? That is pitiful.

 

Americans aren't afraid of jobs. Americans are afraid of the IRS knocking on their doors for wages taken "under the table" and all those penalties and jail time that would be tacked on. Illegal aliens don't have to worry about it, because nobody in government INS and IRS) knows or cares who they are or where they work or how much they make, and IF they have any kind of documents, whether or not they are forged.

Illegal aliens are immune from the laws of this land, including paying taxes, zoning laws, driving and insurance laws, paying for health care, etc. It's a pretty good gig actually. What a country.

 

Half the US economy is under the table. Another reason why nothing will change short of a civil war.

 

It would cost more to supervise the welfare slugs than the work output was worth.

 

I agree with you, billwald. There will probably end up being a civil war and the fuse has been lit by our greedy politicians.

 

Without a doubt we are at a pivotal point on immigration issues regarding illegals coming from south of the border. I really wonder if our Senators have any foresight into what the ramifications will be if the current mindset in Washington is not reversed.

You gots to be kidding. The labor cost would be passed on to the consumer. I get a COLA that exceeds my costs so go ahead and raise the minimum wage.

 

Tonight on the evening news, they did a spot about illegal aliens working for a company in the NE who has a government contract. (Yes, that's right, working for our own government, indirectly, in close proximity to some security sensitive areas...)

Anyway, the illegal aliens are paid $13.00 an hour. A couple of them got fired when it was found out their documents are forged (green card & SS card). The other 20 or so went on STRIKE carrying signs and refused to work. I know plenty of American people who would be glad to work for $13.00 an hour. I bet you could go anywhere in this country and find American citizens who would be glad to work for $13.00 an hour. So, it's not about "jobs Americans won't take" like the lazy politicians and pro-illegal alien groups are telling us.
