They can't even conduct a funeral for a great lady without turning it into a political rally. I have seen some of the clips of the funeral with the Clintons and thought it was real sad when they should have taken their time to honor Mrs. King, they instead made it all about themselves and their own political ambitions.

Because we should expect more from our ex-presidents.

 

Those were some good words by our President and I believe he meant them.

 

You guys have got to be kidding. To assign different levels of integrity to politicans is like deciding which pig smells the best. To me, it takes a lot of nerve to mix politicans and a Holy God in the same sentence. Stop and think about it. First, think about what a Holy God means, then think about how politicans got where they are today, democrat or republican.

Well, OldRegular, you have to admit that all pigs and pig pens smell about the same! Even the ones in Viet Nam smell like the ones here! Further, Washington does deal in a lot of pork. So, to that extent, Saturnneptune, has a point!

Regardless, I still liked - very much liked - the comments the President made.

Here's a politician that just publicly recognized the "Redeemer lives" and His "name [is] above every name". Given today's aversion to proclamations of faith by anyone in government these words were a milestone for Christians - not as a corruption of doctrine of separation of state from church but as an individual's - a national leader's - simple recognition of just who God is and what He does for His chosen children.

God bless the President for saying what he did!

 

I have been disappointed in Carter for years.
Apart from the fact that he was a disastrous president, soundly defeated after his only, thank God, term, he is constantly sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong.
His meddling in N. Korea during the Clinton admin. allowed the Communists to continue their nuclear weapons work unmolested.

Clinton wasn't very happy with him either.

The more he speaks, the more classless he reveals himself to be.

But what is unusual about a conservative being insulted in a black church?

This is normal politics as usual but only democrats stoop to political hate speech at a funeral.

Remember the Paul Wellstone funeral that turned into a democratic rally with his son chanting

Why would I do that? He isn't running for anything. He has already won twice.

That's kind of a funny statement being that the thread was started to bash someone.

Do I agree with ANYONE turning a funeral into a polictical stand? No, but do we have to take every opportunity to bash someone for their mistakes?

Just a question here...

I was unable to watch the whole funeral...I had work to do, and I began to projectile vomit onto the TV after hearing some of the tripe.

Speaking to you folks as fellow ministers and churchgoers...

How could they allow this junk to go on in a house of worship?

I know what my pastor would have done in a funeral in our church. I know what I would have done. A gentle, but firm, reminder would have been delivered. "Look, folks, I appreciate your passion, but today, we're here to thank God for this woman's life, and look to Him for comfort. Let's stay away from politicizing and grandstanding."

At least the president mentioned God. I'm not sure God got much air time from this funeral.

This church needs a new policy: "You will not be granted privileges to speak here based on a "reverend" title you gave yourself, or the fact that you have held a prominent political office. You may speak if, after talking to our ministers, it is apparent that God has given you something worth saying from our pulpit. Otherwise, have a seat."

Then again, that's just my $0.005 (after taxes).

I would agree that this political atmosphere has no place in a church.
However Republicans were to speak in a church the way democrats are allowed to, the IRS would be called in by Schumer and Kennedy in a hearbeat to revoke their tax empempt status.

Gee, I haven't heard any complaints from the King family, only from democrat-bashers here.

 

That could mean the King family has about as much class as Lowry or Carter?

Or maybe they're just staying above the fray.
