Catholic School double standard

A clear example of 'Ye Olde Double Standarde' hiding out as Conservatism.

 

I heard about this. There was something about her not being able to participate because of safety reasons. That's why the father was allowed to participate.

I'm not sure what to think about the school's actions-- but the girl's were horrible. From what I understand (I didn't reread the article), her mother was in full support of her doing this. How ubserd. Just another example of "I don't like what the authorities are doing, I think it's unfair and I'll just do what I want to" mentality.

 

The story does seem to portray a double standard. Although the article stated why the girl had to do her school work at home, it doesn't clearly state why she wasn't allowed to participate in the graduation.

If it was because she was pregnant, then the father of the child should not have been able to participate. The girl didn't get pregnant by herself.

 

If they were sorry for their sins, Jesus would probably forgive them and tell both of them to sin no more. I think the school should talk to the male and female students involved and depending on their attitude and remorse make a decision. In this case, the girl seems to be unrepentant, defiant, and flaunting, maybe the boy was more penitent and remorseful. In any case, I believe the decision should be based on the individual circumstances, rather than blanket policy of banning everyone involved. Besides, a girl having an abortion would not miss a beat. No one would know. Thank God she is giving birth.

 

That is not any different than any other religious schools. Church related schools and seminaries are exempt from virtually all federal and state laws governing hiring and firing of employees.

 

Every kid in that room is a sinner. Just because those two's sins were more public than the others doesn't mean they shouldn't have been able to walk across that stage.
