I want to try an experiment:

This is a NON-DEBATE thread, so only friendly and civil discussions as judged so by Dr. Bob or myself will be allowed.

Since this is the Contemporary Christian Music Fellowship thread, our moderating will heavily favor the CCM side.

I do not want to discourage debate on the issue of music, but I think a place to go where folks on one side can convene without the constant threat of opposition is in order. I will ask those who post in this thread not to avoid the open threads in the Music Ministry Forum.

    Let's see how this works!

    Your friendly co-moderator,
    Aaron ;)

I for one enjoy CCM and Praise and Worship music more than Hymns. There is nothing wrong with Hymns, I just prefer the other.

I love Hymns, but I love Praise and Worship music too. I also love more of the modern Christian music.

I'm not a big fan of the traditional CCM like MWS, Sandi Patti, Steve Green, ect. But I love Christian rock, which is technically a branch of CCM.

Should bluegrass be here too? What are we going to catalog under CCM?

I am not crazy for hard music personally...but I too like Christian Rock. *Mercy Me*!

What is the experiment? </font>[/QUOTE]He wants to see how long he can go without condemning us all or making goofy "rock and roll comes from voodoo" accusations.

I'm not really sure what the point of this is. There were plenty of threads that were going along quite well until Aaron and his buddies butted in to tell us what sinning scumbags we all were.

I'd say it's a bit deeper than that. First, I'm sure he knows that people like you and Jonathan and I resent being grouped into a pro CCM category when we don't even make those kinds of distinctions. In other words, to us good music is just good music.

Second, it's a matter of altering perception. For whatever reason he feels the need to create an impression that dividing the "Music Ministry" forum into two camps is necessary because it is the "pro CCM" crowd who are the one's being divisive. Kind of ironic huh? It's especially ironic considering that all he'd have to do to stop the ugliness is quit leveling accusations of sin without any evidence against people.

I agree. Nobody's broken into a thread on "traditional" music to wreck the thread with all sorts of accusations.

It's always been them who jumped into an otherwise friendly thread with all of the "voodoo" stuff and screaming "it's just like the world" (which they never bother to explain).

What don't you get? The Bible clearly states in 1 Corinthians chapter six, verse nine that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Don't you see how simple it all is? The two four beat is obviously evil communication which means you are unrighteous. Therefore, you cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Sheesh, simpleton. When are you gonna get holy like me?

I always buy new CD's by Michael Card, John-Michael Talbot, Fernando Ortega, Eden's Bridge and Stephen Curtis Chapman. And every once in a while, I listen to Petra! (Not bad for an old geezer like me!)

I just got a couple of long out of print Michael Card CD's over the internet. I've hardly stopped listening to them. Next, I'm going to get some of the old Petra albums that I loved so long ago.

This would be better posted in one of the open threads. Please read the first post in this thread.

    td,

I was pretty irked when J93.3 changed their programming around, too. I tried for nearly a year to get the morning DJ (Sheila) to come and speak at one of our church's youth services; I got one reply about being busy and then no reply at all after that.
I hardly listen to it now. But it hasn't turned me away from CCM. I'm more discerning about what I listen to now, though, and I try to weed out the shallow stuff and keep listening to the uplifting songs. Rich Mullins is my favorite.
Don't give up so easily on CCM. There are other Christian radio stations in your area (are you in north or south Ga.), so I say seek, and ye shall find.

I guess you could say Montezuma is middle Georgia; way down upon the Flint River. There are several other Christian radio stations around which play a wide variety of styles but they are low wattage and reception is somewhat weak where I live. So, since I travel quite a bit I do lots of channel surfing while driving. The American Family Radio network isn't so bad, but I guess I've moved on to Praise & Worship. Trouble is there is no solid P&W station in the area, so I mostly listen to it on the web.

  19. Dr. Bob,
Why are you opposed to CCM?? Can you tell us why this is so? CCM is a new way of praising Christ. Not to mention we can understand the words! Those old hymns..... [IMG]
