Chaplaincy Training

I'm in the process of doing a year-long chaplain residency program at a hospital in central Arkansas. It's not a traditional CPE program, as its focus is more ministry-oriented. As a result, the program often draws recent seminary or Bible college graduates as well as pastors already involved in ministry.

 

I took a course on Hospital chaplaincy through the seminary extension program when I lived in SC. It included a 6 month intership working for the chaplain of our local hospital. It was a great experience. After completing the class I stayed on as a volunteer chaplain until we moved to NC. I love hospital ministry, you see people totaly broken down without the facades that we put up in every day life.

And in their broken down state, some of them minutes away from death, saints of God still encourage me more than I was ever able to encourage them.

Of course there are down sides, you see a lot of lost people and often it breaks your heart to see people so close to eternity refuse that last outstretched hand.

 

I did CPE, and I've done short-term residencies/seminars offered in local hospitals.

 

I attended military chaplaincy training at Ft. Jackson, SC. We need more Godly chaplains. All branches have websites to get more information, if thats the type of chaplaincy you were thinking about.
