    It was an idyllic Wednesday evening in Madison Square Park — still air, verdant grass, a relaxed crowd, with barefoot children milling about — when Cia Leigh Cherryholmes got to singing about war and God. Taking on the persona of a mother who has sent her son off to fight, she aimed “This Is My Son” at the heavens — “You gave us yours/And I gave them mine” — before bemoaning “People who don’t/Care that they’re free/at the cost of his life.”
