When I was on the mission trip to Ukraine, I was surprised to find that the church we were helping baptized only youth age and up--like 15 and up.

I believe our young children love God if they are taught to do so, but are they really able to make the kind of commitment that doesn't allow them to stray later in life??

Well I was saved at 4, and baptized at 5(?). I am still trusting in God, and following him. There have been times where I have strayed but that will happen whatever age you get saved in. SO my belief is that they are able to make the descicion young.

Q I have a question for you. At age 4 and 5 did you really understand the concept of sin and that you needed to repent for your sins? I ask because I have a 6 year old son who really wants to be saved, but he is having trouble grasping these concepts.

My middle daughter, Jessica, started asking questions about Jesus when she was 3. At the age of 4 she accepted Jesus as her savior and was Baptised, she knows she lies to get out of trouble sometimes and gets mad at her sisters and sometimes disobeys me and knows these are sins. She also knows she will get discipline from me and because Jesus died on the cross God won't also punish her in Hell.
Ever since she was saved she is very much in love with Jesus, she sleeps with her Bible on her bed and prays. One day I bought pictures for each child and saw one of Jesus and bought it for Jessica, she was so happy and thaught it was the best one out of all three.
She may make mistakes when she gets older but I know she is saved.

I have a daughter who is 6 and she has been asking questions for several months about becoming a Christian and making sure she goes to heaven. Each time she ask, we , her mother or myself, always tell her the plan of salvation and emphasis repentance on her level. She recently came to her mother and wanted her to pray with her to become a Christian. Her mother went through the details, I think a little too much for a 6 year old, and they prayed together. When we talked to her about talking with the Pastor and be baptized, she really did not want to any that right now. She said she wanted to wait until she was a teenager. Should we just wait and let her mature or continue to encourage her to make her commintment public?

I would show her what the Bible teaches and keep on teaching her and helping her to grow. She will let you know when she is ready . . .

I was saved at age 4 and baptised at age 7. As long a the person knows what sin is, that they are sinners, that Jesus died to forgive us of those sins, and that they shouldn't sin any more than what's to keep them from asking for that forgiveness?
People get to this point at different times, some at an early age and some not so early.
