Children's Bible Stories

I quite agree with you, Janice. I write a short chidren's story every day. Not always a Bible story, but I take my stories from everyday events and find some way to insert a scriptural or spiritual truth.

All through my ministry, I used these stories during the morning service and told them just before we sent the children off to junior church. I have a collection of over 18,000 stories.

This is a sample of the stories I write:

At a public meeting a famous actor was present. He was asked to recite something for the pleasure of the guests. He agreed. He asked if there was anything special his audience would like to hear. An aged minister said, "Sir, could you please recite the 23rd Psalm?"

"I can, and will, providing you will recite it after me."

Impressively, the great actor recited the Psalm. His voice was perfect. His intonation flawless. The audience was spellbound, and applauded loudly when he had finished.

When he had finished, the aged minister rose and began, "The Lord IS my shepherd, I shall not lack..........." When he finished there was no applause. There was great silence. There was not a dry eye in the house. Many heads were bowed in reverence.

The actor rose and, with great emotion, he said, "My friends, I have reached your eyes and ears, but the minister has reached your hearts. The difference is this: I kow the 23rd Psalm, but he knows the Shepherd."

Just another pulpit story:

A changed life

In Africa, there was a tribe of cannibals, who made humans a daily fare; they ate them. A missionary dared to visit with them and share the good news that Jesus loved them and died for them.

Over time the cannibals came to know Jesus and turned their lives about. It was a total change for them, and they no longer considered other humans as food.

They learned to read, and of course, the Bible was their text book. So, they were learning, not only how to become a Christian, but how to live the Christian life.

This particular day a trader from Europe paid a visit to this tribe. He noticed that they were reading a book and asked, "What are you reading?"

"The Bible, " they said with a smile on their faces.

"Oh, you don't believe that book, do you?"

"Friend, if we didn't believe this book, you would be cooking for our dinner now."

Nothing can be more convincing than a changed life. We may not be cannibals, but we can spread good or evil by our very lives, and hence destroy a life with what we do.

Just another story:

How glad we are that while we were yet sinners, God loved us. Long before we loved Him, He loved us with an everlasting love and planned to pour us out a blessing of redeeming grace.

This is an actual testimony of a man who got off at the Pennsylvania Depot one day as a tramp.He had left home early on, and spent his life begging on the streets. A nickle here and a dime there, enough for a coffee and toast. It was not a pleasant life. His entire life was spent in absolute poverty.

This particular morning he was feeling quite down and weak. In desperation, he tapped this one chap on the shoulder, and said, "Mister, cold I please have a dime?"

As soon as the man turned about, the begger recognized him as his father. The father instantly stretched out his arms and hugged the beggar tightly. "Father, don't you know me?" he said over and over.

"Yes, my son, I have finally found you. And look at you, begging in the streets for a dime, when you could have had all that is mine."

Our heavenly Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills, why would we want to milk one cow? His arms stretch farther than we can imagine. Why settle for human failure?

Reminds me of the song:

"To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
though stretched from sky to sky."
