1. Christ represents Us in the Heavens before the Father
2. We represent Christ in the Earth before Men
Christ represents me before the Father and I represent Christ on the earth. The plant manager is talking of sending me to a customer. If I go before the customer I represent the company. If my conduct is bad my plant and plant manager look bad and I guarantee that will be my last company trip anywhere. If I impress the customer I impress my plant and plant manager. If Christians conduct is bad on earth it makes Christ looks bad in heaven. And we will answer for our conduct. Churches also exist on earth and we must represent Christ in the Church as well as Christ in the world. Represent Christ well and you will be rewarded well.
The Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: - Acts 9:15
I believe this is why Christ chose the Apostle Paul to minister to the "Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel." Christ knew that Paul would do a wonderful job representing him and would not embarrass him in return. So... He was chosen for the job and has went on to a wonderful reward!
