    If a christian has a place of power over others, what are your biblically based thoughts on abusing that power?
    What are their responsabilities to those under them?

    Do mean such as a Christian manager in the workplace?

    He would have the responsibility to treat them as he would wish to be treated himself. He has the same responsibilities to each of them that he has to any one of his fellow human beings. Honesty, kindness, fairness, etc.

    Good answer Jim, thats kind of what I mean.
    I've heard of something like that, not sure if it was a manager or not, or if thay have one, but had the power to be in charge. If that makes sence.
    Like my husband is in charge at work, but they don't have a manager or forman. Offically, but thats what he does. he is the type you have described, takes care of the men under him.

    Read "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse". Manipulating, shaming, exploiting other people, misusing authority . . . today's headlines seem rife with the problem of spiritual abuse in the church---but there is hope! Candidly addressing sensitive issues, Johnson and VanVonderen explain how to identify unhealthy behavior patterns, break the cycle of abusive spiritual dynamics, and encourage both abusers and victims to repent and recover.

    Hadn't though of that Dr. Bob, I knew a church that was abusive, we weren't members there, but some friends of ours were. They equated it too a cult once, but still wouldn't leave there.

    1Pet5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

    Anything more is robbery and Nicolaitanism, anything less will drive the sheep away.

    Outside th church:

    Eph6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
    6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
    7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
    8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
    9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

    Col3:22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
    23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
    24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
    25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

    Col 4:1 ¶ Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.

    Abuse of Power? Usually a "Control Freak", that term pretty much sums it all up!

    Men like Joseph and Daniel and Hezekiah and David set an example of Godly exercise of secular power
