They are a good denomination, however they seem to be going the way of the Emerging Church.

What your link went to did not show the source (what paper was this is in?) and did not mention what denomination the service was. Please clarify. We can't tell.

Maybe it is just one church doing this, not the whole denomination. However, I agree with the writer's sentiments concerning the service -- more and more churches are going for amibiguous, touchy-feely stuff in place of substantive teaching and preaching. :tear:

The Christian and Missionary Alliance has churches of all stripes and it is difficult to paint them with one broad swipe of the brush. Even within the Baptist Fellowship, mentioned, of which I served for many, many years, there are a few questionable churches.

I think what is happening with this so-called Emerging church is the end results of the charismatic movement; the feel good, serve all thing which strikes some religions. The C&MA has always had a rather broad statement of faith "allowing" some charismatic direction. It was not advocated by the many, but did attract a few. Remember, the C&MA Church was the home of A.W. Tozer and one of the founders of the Youth For Christ movement.

Agreed. One of my co-laborers in the ministry I work in is C&MA and is very solid theologically. He's also an elder in his church. Very solid guy.

This is a technical error.

The graphic shows up just fine in my Macintosh using FireFox and fully enlarged.

However on your PC you will need to enlrage the image. This can be easily done in IE.

Yes and I also worked for Y4C for a Internship creating bible curriculum.

They also are going down the Emerging Church road.

They did not like me using John MacArthur nor did they like me borrowing material from some fundamentalist websites. However they encouraged me to borrow material from Emergent churches, and from the Source ( a Youth Ministry website).

They wanted bible curriculum that met felt needs. They told me that the youth did not need to be told that they were nit saved, as because that was the job of the church. Needless I did not want to extend my contract beyond the original 3 months.

John, Many of us pulled away from Youth For Christ more than 35 years ago, when they pulled up chairs with Pentecostalism. We saw this as the beginning of the end. We favoured InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and the Christian Service Brigade.

Again, remember that YFC was started under the auspices of the Billy Graham Crusade organization. Whilst I appreciate Dr. Graham's personal relationship with Christ, I never supported is ecumenism. It led down the garden path of mixed theology. YFC was so destined.

I was around in the days when we fought so hard against modernism....the 50's-60's, and I am not surprised at what I read about churches in modernity. We do so want to be all things to all people, and we have those all important goals of numbers...see how many "I" got saved!

I use Firefox too :thumbs: But I think it's mainly the background that is giving me a hard time...the dark color of the newspaper...kinda grating to the eyes.
