I'd say much of the Republican platform is incompatible with biblical Christianity too.
Perhaps we are better off noting that neither party is worth our allegiance, only Christ.

So are you saying that the Democratic Gentleman in our church who opposes Homosexuality and abortion, and is on the board of the Pro-life Choices-for-Women Center, yet agrees with Democrats on economic policy and health-care issues...that this man should be disciplined by our church for his blatantly sinful and anti-Biblical lifestyle as a democrat?

I'm Just Gonna Say.......
I'm just gonna say....that for the record (and the quote in the OP was mine and I'll stand by it!)...that at this point I'm not the slightest bit comfortable as a Christian citizen of a "far country whose Builder and Maker is God".....,A citizen of the United States of America, or an Independent voter with any of the choices we have before us for the upcoming elections. There is not one single candidate in the running for the Presidential race (that I personally know of) that I can, in good conscience, vote according to my Biblical convictions. This country (which I love and am thankful to God for) is in a real mess.
Magnetic....are you REALLY gonna vote for Obama/Biden?????? Please tell me you are kidding! If so I think your "magnetic" poles have reversed!
The choices as I see them are between a Mormon/Catholic ticket of "noodle-back psuedo-conservatives and a closet-Muslim-traitor/foot-in-mouth village idiot ticket of radical socialist far left-wing homo-loving baby killers.......great choices for our nations highest office...don't you think? Just makes ya kind of automatically want to think peaceful, loving thoughts....doesn't it?:laugh:

Would say the the Deoocratic party as defined by those currently in leadership would be anti christian in its viewpoints, as Big pro abortion/gay marriage/denouncing Amrica/eliminating christ in public discourse, but that people could still be Democrats but ONLY they held to what used to be called 'reagon democats" views!
Would say that unless one is viewing things like that, Democratic party best to avoid like the Plague!
Would say that i see it better to support even one in a false religion IF that candidate was in the way of God regarding social and economic issues!
GP Sr.- There are multitudes who have similar opinions. Sometimes, because the realistic options are limited, it's a choice of the lesser evil.

This is the problem with trying to pigeon-hole Democrats or Republicans.
Here in Western Kentucky, Democrats tend to lean conservative, and be professing Christians.
Over the past years, a lot of them have deserted their party's presidential nominee because he was just simply too liberal.
As we like to say around here, there are Democrats, and then there are Western Kentucky Democrats.
It is a mistake to paint all of them with the same brush.

Completely disagree. This is where the Body needs to slow down and catch up with the Head.
Sin is sin. And it is unrighteous judgment to say that those who commit one sin or who are part of one group are not in right-standing with God without saying the same about ALL sinners.
Though some Christians may not have the stronghold of homosexuality upon them, everyone has SOMETHING that's got a hold on them.
So let's be really careful not to appear as hypocrites condemning folks who commit sins just as we ALL do.

But the lesser evil sentiment seems to prevail when you've got people acting as though the politicians will save us.
Why don't the Christians just align themselves with Christ? And if that means we don't get to vote for a candidate from either of the two major parties, big deal.
Why on earth do we support the lesser of two evils and then wonder why there is so much evil around us? If we're supporting it, why wouldn't it pervade?

I disagree with the OP. However, there was a time when I thought that the idea voiced above was reasonable and I jokingly asserted it to my then pastor about some old democrats in our church.
I now have a different view of things. I still don't think I'd vote for a Democrat in state or national elections though. My natural bent is toward a libertarian form of conservatism, mixed in with some policies that directly benefit me and the other people for whom I might actually have to be responsible, like my immediate family, brothers and sisters, mom and dads. ;-) If there's direct aid by the government to anyone other than these people then I start to have serious misgivings about encroachments on my freedoms! ;-)

Our allegiance should ALWAYS be to God and His Word......PERIOD. For the Christian there can be no compromise or "middle ground". At the JSOC we will be rewarded (or suffer"loss") according to the choices and deeds we commit in this body from the day of our salvation forward.
Lastly...in THIS WORLD...the choices we have to make will almost never be the "majority" position on ANYTHING. It is sad that it comes to this but it may just be that the decision we have to make may be to NOT PARTICIPATE in the world's electorial process if it requires us to vote APART from our biblical convictions as citizens of God's Kingdom. Our standing in God's Kingdom must, of necessity, trump our passing, fading citizenship in this failing world. The question may be.........how seriously do we take our "allegiance" to God and His Holy Bible? The martyr's that John Foxe wrote of surely knew the answer to that question....DO WE?

Christians today have lost faith in the God Who can part the Red Sea, told Gideon to battle the Midianites with 300 men (whom He did not even need), and had the Israelites win a battle for having Moses' arms lifted. Christians have become acolytes of secular "conservative" political personalities who have mortgaged their souls to the (secular) Republican party that descends year-by-year into godlessness and rides on the coattails of their opponents.
What we need to understand is "Do the Right Thing." If you think we have to compromise all the time to save ourselves through "pragmatism," I have to wonder where your trust really lies. Do you trust that God will honor people who serve Him or is He biting His nails worried about what will happen if the worst guy gets elected by people who don't regard Him?

HALLELUJAH!!! I could see if there was some confusion about someone's stance. But when you're dealing with the candidates from the two major parties, ain't no way I could stand before any congregation and preach about obedience after voting for either the Democrat or the Republican.
We should not let our desire to win this world's election cause us to lose sight of the platform we have been given and what that platform is for.
