I've been using CNN and Foxnews for news and gmail and hotmail for mail, google or ask.com for start pages. Lately I've been hearing disturbing things that some of these companies have done, and I'm certainly sick of the biased news of these two sites. Foxnews may not have as much liberal bias as CNN but it has gone the way of tabloid news of late, focusing on Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton and the like, and running dozens of stories and headlines referring to sex and nudity.

    I'm looking for:
    1. A good Christian news site. That is, a site that gives very thorough news coverage, especially of international news, and is not overly liberal or humanist/atheist biased. It would also hopefully cover some of the stories that CNN and Foxnews won't cover, like Christian persecutions, news of Israel, etc.

    2. A good e-mail site. I'm looking for a long-term e-mail provider. This doesn't have to be a specifically Christian site (thought that would be nice), but needs to have acceptable business practices and a usable GUI.

    3. A Christian start page. Ideally, this would be #1 or #2 above, but it doesn't have to be. It could be a search engine, for example. A simple and fast interface is prefered to a page that has to load 100 links each time.

I'd rather use and support a Christian site for these services than companies like Microsoft and Google, anyway.

Do you have any sites to recommend or links to share? Thanks for your time.

goodsearch.com is a good homepage and search engine...
Plus you can help fund your favorite charity just by searching the internet through them... they give part of their ad money to charities...

I stay with Yahoo mail, and have for several years. I have Gmail, but never use it.

I just use about:blank as my home page. ;)

I catch a little news when I go to check my email, but not a lot. I use dailyrotation.com for a lot of my news, but it is all tech. :D

I have subscribed to the Alliance Defense Fund newsletter and find it enlightening to the ongoing spiritual warfare taking place in the US legal system.
    http://www.alliancedefensefund.org

ADF has reported on a number of successes and setbacks, especially around the intersecting topic of sexual discrimination and religious discrimination.

    Email thoughts....

I find the on-line web services nasty to work with. They seem to clog up the page with so much stuff that you don't need it drives me nuts. I've used gmail, yahoo, and Comcast's web email, and all seems equally cluttered. Don't even think about looking at the Netzero dialup web email - it's a nightmare.

Assuming you usually use the same PC, I'd suggest using an email client like Outlook or the Mozilla's free Thunderbird email client. That way you can use the POP3 feature of gmail or yahoo to download your emails into a simple, no advertising interface that it truly optimized for working with email.

You can still use the web services for when you are on the road, but use a real email program when you are at your normal PC.

I can't imagine using a web email service for your day to day email needs. I know I would end up looking like trotter's avatar

    Hope that helps!

I know that Brother David Cloud has a website called www.wayoflife.org and you can sign up for his newsletters. He includes things that are going on within the world as well as things that are going on under Christianity. He talks about persecutions and troubles in some churches. I was looking for the same thing that you were and found his website. Please note that David Cloud is a Independent Fundamental Premillenial Straight Down The Line Baptist. He is against the New Evangelicals and Liberalism that is creeping into our churches today. I side with him on many issues...but I do not know where he stands on every issue so i do not fully associate myself with him (yet).
