Christian Reality T-V Show Follows Young Missionaries

    (Tustin, California-AP) -- Two young American missionaries
    wend their way through villages from Pakistan to Burundi to New
    Guinea -- carrying digital cameras as they share the Gospel, get
    lost and confront wild animals.
    Taking a cue from its secular competitors, Trinity
    Broadcasting Network has started airing its first reality show --
    called "Travel the Road."
    The 12-part series began this month and will run through
    mid-August.
    The program follows Tim Scott and William Decker on their
    18-month self-financed mission trip through 25 countries. Along
    the way, they filmed conversions, adventures and events they
    consider miraculous.
    T-B-N Vice President Paul Crouch Junior says the network
    edited their footage into programs and plans to equip the
    24-year-old Scott and 28-year-old Decker with new cameras for a
    two-year mission trip starting this summer.

    Now that is a Reality T.V show that would be good for everyone to watch.

    They put so many garbage shows on under that label.

    Do you have "Big Brother" on in the U.S ?

    Interesting concept. But I'm prepared to be disapointed with anything whcich is associated with TBN.

    Whyohwhyohwhy can't we get a REAL Christian ministry network which could feature marvelous teachers like Steve Brown and John McArthur and Adrian Rogers or even someone like Tony Campolo?

    Why must we be represented to the world by that pack of snake-oil salesmen?

    In listening to an NPR interview, these brethren filmed their "show" first and then sold it to Trinity.

    Very strange idea...
    My first reaction was: that's scandalous!
    But if it can help some christians be more aware of the situation in which some of our brethren live, or be more interested in global Mission, it can be a good thing.

    While I've got no great love for Paul Crouch Sr (Paul Jr seems to have fallen far from that tree), I think it important that there exist such a thing as TBN. Many a people are spiritually inspired by programming on TBN (God has a way of using even that which I disagree with). As for the fine flks you listed, they are certainly welcome to purchase air time on TBN. My understanding is that their rates are quite competetive.

    A US version of Big Brother aired a few seasons ago, and did fairly well. The second installation did poorly. There is not likely to be a third.

    Gidday John, The first two times Big Brother seemed to do quite well in Australia. Yet we currently have the third series on and it is not going real well.

    I cant see why they cant just have Star Trek and Aussie Rules football on all the time, that would be a bit more like it. [​IMG]
