Christian Spies?

What about the twelve spies who went in to spy out the land of Canaan, or the spies sent in to checked out Jericho who stayed at Rahab's house? I believe someone said, "Alls fair in love and war."

 

Do some missionaries and underground house church leaders count? Some of them are jailed like spies anyway.

 

I went into a Muslim country, basically doing recon. Going from village to village to gather names of people who seemed receptive to outsiders and willing to listen. We were told not to do too much evangelism. We were gathering information for larger groups to later blanket the area. I wouldn't call us spies per se because we were told specifically not to lie and not to freely offer information. Now I have no doubt the government would have classified us as spies.

 

I work as a private investigator. And yes, I pry into people's personal lives.

Most of my work is on civil cases, lawsuits and insurance fraud.

If a person has nothing to hide, then the report comes back clean and the person has no problems.

If the person is on crystal meth, then a bad report comes back and hopefully we protect the innocent people by keeping the insurance rates as low as possible and taxes down.

Most people open themselves up to being investigated by actions they take.

Also, I have specialized in church liability and security; primarily by doing full background investigations of new pastors, youth ministers and especially anybody working with youth or children. You would be AMAZED at the number of child molesters we have found working as leaders with kids. These background searches are extremely thorough and are not cheap, but for churches who pay large premiums for liability insurance it can keep them from a destroying reputation caused by an incident (look at the Catholics) and also prevent them from loosing their insurance, or at the least their rates being doubled or quadrupled due to an abuse claim.

I am also a member of a group called Christian Private Investigator's association.

We strive to be ethical, and our job is to protect and help the innocent who cannot get help in other ways.

 

I've had some independent Baptists spy out my Southern Baptist Church in their search for a SBC church to steal.

 

Our family is very active in 4-H. When we first began our activities with them, my husband and I had to submit a criminal background consent and a form that listed several references. They are very particular. I can't blame them, though. I also appreciate their concern for the safety of the 4-H kids.

I think it might be rather interesting to be a private investigator.

If someone got into trouble with the law, then came to Christ and wanted to work with youth at a church, would they be denied? And, BTW, I am not asking for myself. And I am not talking about someone being in trouble for child abuse or sexual charges. Also, would it be enough just to be accused or would you have to have been convicted? Thanks!
